RealGreen has been the back office for established American lawn care for decades — it claims 90% of the top lawn care franchises and $3.5 billion in customer revenue processed last year. It also has the closest feature parity to QuoteIQ of any platform we’ve compared. The difference isn’t features. It’s that RealGreen’s own entry tier says it’s “ideal for 3 crews or more.”
RealGreen publishes three tiers — Small Business, Professional, Enterprise — with zero dollar figures on any of them, states its pricing is “both usage and user-based,” offers no free trial, and labels its entry tier “ideal for 3 crews or more.” Capterra lists a $199/month flat starting rate as vendor-supplied data and rates RealGreen 3.9 out of 5 across 148 reviews with Value for Money at 3.6. QuoteIQ publishes five tiers from $29.99 to $699, runs a 14-day trial on every one, and stays month-to-month. On features this is genuine parity — RealGreen matches QuoteIQ on online measuring, route optimization, automated Google reviews, website building and customer portal, and puts routing and measuring on its entry tier where QuoteIQ gates them at $299 and $74.99. It also has a real BI layer, embedded lending and direct mail that QuoteIQ doesn’t offer. The honest split is fit: RealGreen is built for the lawn company you’d become after ten years. QuoteIQ is built for the one you’re running now.
TL;DR: RealGreen is the incumbent lawn care platform, now marketed as “RealGreen by WorkWave” and running on Service Assistant 5. Its scale is real: 90% of the top lawn care franchises, $3.5B in customer revenue processed last year, and customers including Senske, Virginia Green and ExperiGreen. It is owned by WorkWave, which has served customers since 1984 and became a standalone EQT Private Equity portfolio company in June 2021 after separating from IFS, acquiring RealGreen from Serent Capital in the same transaction. It sits alongside PestPac, WinTeam, Lighthouse, RouteManager and Slingshot in that portfolio. Feature parity with QuoteIQ is the closest of any competitor we’ve analyzed — but the commercial posture is the opposite: no published prices, no trial, pricing that scales on usage and users simultaneously, and an entry tier scoped to three crews. Customer sentiment is the weakest in the series at 3.9 stars across 148 Capterra reviews, 70% positive, with Capterra’s own summary naming “frequent technical problems and outages” as the top con. QuoteIQ counters with five AI products including AI Estimator and Virtual Call Team, a native business phone, and 50+ trades against seven green-industry verticals. Per the U.S. Small Business Administration, most lawn care businesses operate well below three crews.
This is the whole comparison in one line, and it comes from RealGreen’s own pricing page rather than from us. Their three tiers are Small Business, Professional and Enterprise. The Small Business card — the cheapest thing they sell — carries the line “Ideal for 3 crews or more.” Enterprise is described as “Unlimited licenses,” which implies the two tiers beneath it are license-limited.
A solo operator with one truck is not the customer that sentence was written for, and the review record reflects it. Capterra shows 93% of RealGreen’s reviewers come from small businesses — and it also shows the lowest satisfaction scores of any platform in this comparison series. Those two facts together describe a mismatch: small operators buying a platform designed for multi-branch franchise groups. For context on where QuoteIQ sits, landscaping and lawn care operators on Essentials and Beginner are typically running one to two trucks.
| Commercial term | QuoteIQ | RealGreen |
|---|---|---|
| Published pricing | Yes — five tiers in dollars | No — three tiers, zero figures |
| Smallest supported business | Solo operator, one user | “Ideal for 3 crews or more” |
| Entry price | $29.99/month | Unpublished — Capterra lists $199/mo flat |
| Pricing basis | Per user, flat | “Both usage and user-based” |
| Free trial | 14 days, every plan | None found |
| Model your cost before a sales call | Yes | No |
| Additional capabilities | Included by tier | Separate WorkWave subscriptions |
On the one public number: Capterra lists RealGreen at $199 per month, flat rate — not per user. That figure is vendor-supplied to a listing RealGreen doesn’t actively manage, so treat it as a third-party estimate rather than a quote. What RealGreen states itself is only that pricing is “both usage and user-based” and available by custom quote. Two axes scaling at once is difficult to forecast, which is the practical problem for a small operator planning a year of cash flow.
RealGreen holds 3.9 out of 5 across 148 Capterra reviews — the lowest of any competitor we’ve analyzed, against SingleOps at 4.4, EagleView and Arborgold at 4.3, and Aspire at 4.5. Sentiment splits 70% positive, 13% neutral, 17% negative, with 15 one-star reviews. The sub-scores are where it gets specific.
Capterra’s own auto-generated pros-and-cons summary is unusually blunt. The top pro is “intuitive and accessible interface” at 88% positive across 24 mentions. The top con is “frequent technical problems and outages” at 82% negative across 40 mentions — more mentions on the negative than the positive. Their Mobile Access note says reviewers report crashes, slow performance and instability.
The complaints also cluster on a specific event: the WorkWave acquisition and the forced migration from Service Assistant 4 to Service Assistant 5. A manager reviewing in May 2026:
“The SA4 and old mobile app was great simple and well run… Tech support is terrible, cant get ahold of account managers, New SA5 and new mobile live 2.0 app is very clicky and hard to manage. Techs are forced to be on there phone or tablets more and the price is skyrocketing… Realgreen charges you for every email that you send!!“
— Tyler B., Manager, 1-star verified Capterra review, May 9, 2026. A president who had used Service Assistant 4 since 2008 wrote in November 2025 that he was “forced into the upgraded SA5 which is not intuitive,” with features he needed removed. The counterweight, stated fairly: 104 of those 148 reviews are four or five stars, and two reviewers in February 2026 described switching back to RealGreen from Aspire — one writing that Aspire “is too detailed and anything you want to use is hidden and behind too many screens.” For an established lawn operation with an office manager and a dedicated routing role, RealGreen clearly works. The negative reviews skew heavily toward small operators and toward the period since the platform migration.
There is no free trial anywhere on RealGreen’s site, and Capterra’s listing confirms it with a plain “Free trial not available.” RealGreen doesn’t publish contract terms either. What is publicly documented is what customers describe, and one December 2025 review is specific enough to be worth reading in full before any demo:
“When I initially inquired about the product, the sales representative assured me that a trial period would be available… Unfortunately, I was disappointed to learn that the trial period was not provided… I inadvertently signed an agreement that I did not fully comprehend, resulting in an unforeseen financial commitment of $8,000… I was urged to sign a one-year agreement, which was contrary to my initial request.”
— Benjamin L., Owner, 1-star verified Capterra review, December 5, 2025. He goes on to describe receiving a legal demand letter and paying the amount to close the matter.A second reviewer in April 2026 reported $6,782 spent and “completely unable to use it,” writing that the “product sold was not product received” — RealGreen responded publicly four days later. A third, in March 2026, said he had cancelled the Mobile Live module a year earlier, three separate times, and was still being billed.
What to actually do with this. These are individual accounts, not company policy, and we’re reporting what reviewers publicly wrote rather than asserting RealGreen’s terms — which aren’t published. But the pattern is consistent enough to be worth acting on: ask explicitly about contract length, auto-renewal, cancellation notice, and exactly which modules are included versus billed separately, and get it in writing before signing. QuoteIQ is month-to-month with a 14-day trial first and cancellation from account settings.
This is the closest feature parity of any competitor in this series, and several RealGreen capabilities have no QuoteIQ equivalent at any price. Two of them are availability advantages that cut directly against us.
Dynamic Routing and Online Measuring both appear on RealGreen’s Small Business tier. QuoteIQ gates route optimization at Elite ($299) and MapMeasure Pro at Beginner ($74.99). RealGreen wins on availability here.
A genuine business-intelligence layer with cross-branch anomaly detection. QuoteIQ has no equivalent — our analytics are reporting dashboards, not a BI product.
WorkWave Capital provides business lending, and Pay Over Time offers consumer financing at the point of sale. Neither has a QuoteIQ equivalent.
Integrated print and direct-mail marketing as a managed service, plus Property Inventory Tracking for pricing and labor estimation. QuoteIQ offers neither.
90% of the top lawn care franchises, plus Acquisition Support built for operators rolling up multiple companies. For a multi-branch group this depth is real and QuoteIQ doesn’t target it.
WorkWave has served customers since 1984 and RealGreen has been the default back office for established lawn shops for decades, with turn-by-turn navigation in the crew app and a UK operation.
“We have been with RealGreen for years now and always resorted back to this software over competitors… What I like most about RealGreen is that it is easy to use and everything is laid out in front of you.”
— jamie O., Customer Service Director, 5-star verified Capterra review, February 2026 — written after switching back from Aspire.Read the routing and measuring row honestly. RealGreen puts both on its entry tier. QuoteIQ asks $299 for route optimization on Elite and $74.99 for MapMeasure Pro on Beginner. If those two features are the whole reason you’re shopping and budget is tight, that’s a real point in RealGreen’s favour — provided you clear their three-crew threshold and can live without a published price.
Because feature coverage is close, the differences concentrate in three places: the AI stack, the communications layer, and who each product is priced and built for.
All five QuoteIQ tiers published from $29.99 to $699, 14-day trial on every one, month-to-month. RealGreen publishes nothing and offers no trial.
QuoteIQ Essentials serves a solo operator at $29.99. RealGreen’s cheapest tier is scoped to three crews or more, in their own words — the single clearest difference between the two products.
AI Estimator, Virtual Call Team, Before/After AI, AI Autopilot, AI Text Generator — from $29.99. RealGreen’s Sales Chatbot is web chat, not a 24/7 AI phone receptionist.
An in-app business number with two-way calling and unlimited texting on Pro+, plus Email & Text Automation. WorkWave sells call handling as a separate product entirely.
Everything on your QuoteIQ tier is included. The WorkWave model is separate products with separate contracts, pricing and support — routing, fleet tracking and call handling are all distinct SKUs.
Add pressure washing, holiday lighting or pest control to a lawn business on one account across 50+ trades, plus InstaQuote and InstaSchedule customer self-service.
There’s a structural point worth naming too. RealGreen belongs to WorkWave, an EQT Private Equity portfolio company, alongside PestPac, WinTeam, Lighthouse and RouteManager. It’s the third private-equity roll-up among the platforms we’ve analyzed — the others being ServiceTitan, which owns FieldRoutes and Aspire, and Granum, which owns SingleOps and LMN. If you’re gathering three quotes from what look like independent vendors, check the parent company first. QuoteIQ is independently owned, which is why the pricing is on the page rather than behind a sales call. Everyday operations are covered without tier gates too: scheduling, invoicing, e-signatures, QuoteIQ Cam, Job Costing and Review Multiplier. According to BrightLocal’s Local Consumer Review Survey, review recency and volume are among the strongest drivers of local conversion.

Count the blue rows before deciding. Seven capabilities in that table belong to RealGreen outright, and four rows are genuine parity — more overlap than any other platform we’ve compared. If business intelligence, lending, consumer financing or direct mail are things you actually intend to use, RealGreen has them and QuoteIQ does not. If they’re features you’d never switch on, you’re paying for a franchise platform to get scheduling, invoicing and review automation that QuoteIQ includes from $29.99.
Five plans on the public pricing page, each with its user count stated, a 14-day free trial on all of them, month-to-month with no notice period. Unlimited customers, properties and jobs on every tier. Annual billing gives two months free.
This distinction gets flattened in most software comparisons, so it’s worth being precise. A booking form — the kind most platforms in this category ship — captures an unpriced service request that you still have to quote, price, confirm and chase. InstaQuote and InstaSchedule are two separate products, and neither one is that. Together they’re the only self-quoting and self-scheduling combination in the industry.
The difference in one sentence: a booking form schedules an unpriced request. InstaSchedule only opens after a customer taps Accept on an estimate — so the job arrives already sold, at a locked price, with the payment method on file, in a slot that was genuinely free, waiting on your one-tap approval. Around 40% of appointments are booked outside business hours, and Sunday evening is the busiest booking window of the week — which is time you are not answering the phone.
RealGreen has been the category’s back office for four decades and it earns that position for the operators it was built for. If you’re running multiple crews with an office team behind you, it’s a serious platform and this page isn’t trying to talk you out of it. But its own pricing page tells you who it’s for, and if you’re below three crews you’re buying something scoped for a business several times your size — without seeing a price or trying it first. QuoteIQ’s 14-day free trial costs nothing to see what software built for your actual size feels like.
