Time Tracker Pro · built into QuoteIQ
Best Employee Time Tracking App & GPS Time Clock App for Contractors
Time Tracker Pro is the time clock inside QuoteIQ. Your crew clocks in, takes breaks and clocks out from their phones, every shift lands in your timesheet the moment it happens, and you export the hours with pay to CSV.

How to track employee time with the time clock app in QuoteIQ
Clock in by phone
Tap Clock In. Location is shared only while you're clocked in.
Take a break
Tap Take Break, then End Break. Breaks stay out of worked hours.
Clock out
Tap Clock Out. The shift is saved with its total hours.
Review the timesheet
Every shift lands in Employee Time. Filter, review or edit entries.
Job timers on site
Job timers start near the job site and stop when you leave.
Export hours with pay
Export to CSV with hourly rate, calculated pay, breaks and totals.
Every shift, in one timesheet you can filter.
The whole crew's hours, narrowed in a few clicks.
The Employee Time tab lists every entry with date, type, customer or job, start and end times, duration and total hours, and totals the hours for the week, the month or any range you pick.
Filter by date, sort by hours, pick one person.
Pick a date range such as Last 30 Days, Last 90 Days or Lifetime, or set a Custom Range, sort by Total Hours, and filter to one employee. A Custom Range card joins the Weekly Total and Monthly Total cards so you see the hours for exactly that stretch.
Open anyone's timesheet, down to each break.
The Employees tab shows each person's hourly rate, weekly and monthly hours and last activity. View Report opens their timesheet, where each day expands into its work periods and breaks with the time of each.
Overtime, On Track and Under
The badges on the hour cards compare the hours in a range with eight hours a day. They are a quick signal to look closer, not an overtime pay calculation, so keep your overtime rules with your payroll provider; the federal overtime rules start after 40 hours in a workweek.
Who sees what
Timesheet permissions decide access: View Timesheets, View All Timesheets, Edit Timesheets and Export Timesheets. Hourly rates and calculated pay are visible to the owner and administrators only.
Missed a punch? Add the shift in seconds.
Four ways to enter time, and overnight shifts just work.
Add Manual Entry opens Add Time Entry for any team member, with an optional link to one of that day's scheduled jobs so the hours count toward the job.
Enter a shift that ends the next morning.
Choose Hours × Rate, Start & End, Multiple or Flat Rate. Pick the employee, set 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM, and QuoteIQ reads it as a shift that ends at 5:00 AM the next day, totals 8 hours and adds it to the timesheet.
Link it to a job
Link to Schedule attaches the entry to a scheduled job on that date, so the hours count in that job's labor cost in Job Costing.
Flat amounts and checks
A flat labor amount can replace hours times rate on any entry. On Start & End, QuoteIQ checks that the end is after the start and that the shift is no longer than 20 hours.
Put the time clock in your crew's pocket.
Clock in, track breaks and export the hours from the app you already run the business in.
Hours with pay, exported for payroll.
A clean CSV for whoever runs payroll.
Export to CSV gives your bookkeeper or payroll provider the hours they need, for the dates and people you choose.
Choose the dates, the people and the columns.
Pick the date range and employees, then include Hourly Rate, Calculated Pay, Breaks and a Totals Row. If no employee is selected QuoteIQ asks for at least one, and it confirms how many entries it exported.
What the file contains
Each row has the employee, date, type, customer or job, start and end times, duration and total hours, plus the optional rate, pay and break columns and a totals row.
Who can export
Exporting needs the Export Timesheets permission, and other people's hourly rates and pay stay with the owner and administrators. Keep a copy of each pay period's file with the records the FLSA recordkeeping rules ask for.

Time tracking connected to the rest of the job.
Hours matter most when they sit next to the people, the jobs and the pay.
Time Tracker Pro lives in EmployeeHub with your team list, messages and Live Tracker. Each person's hourly rate is set once in their employee profile.
Job timers on a scheduled job, and manual entries linked to a job, add labor to that job's report in Job Costing, so profit reflects the hours actually worked.
Live Tracker shows a team member's current position while they are clocked in, and sharing stops at clock-out; the employee can switch Share Location off.
Use roles and permissions to decide who can view, edit and export timesheets, and keep pay data with the owner and administrators.
The best employee time tracking app for contractors, explained.
Straight answers about time tracking software for contractors: clocking in, breaks, timesheets, exports and what the law asks you to keep.
Updated
The best employee time tracking app for contractors turns the phone the crew already carries into their time clock on the job site. In QuoteIQ, Time Tracker Pro gives each team member a My Time tab with Clock In, Take Break, End Break and Clock Out, and every tap lands in the owner's Time Tracking screen right away. There is nothing to collect at the end of the week, and nobody has to remember hours from a text message. It also works as a GPS time clock app: while a team member is clocked in, Live Tracker shows where they are on the crew map, and a scheduled job's timer can start on its own when they arrive near the job site.
Start by adding your people in EmployeeHub and setting each person's Hourly Rate, then decide who can see and edit timesheets with roles and permissions. The Employee Time tab lists every entry with date, type, start and end times and total hours, and the data export options send those hours to whoever runs payroll. Time Tracker Pro runs on phone, tablet and web, sits beside scheduling and crews, and is included on the Elite plan and the Max plan.
Whatever tool you use, the federal Fair Labor Standards Act recordkeeping rules expect you to keep hours worked each day and each workweek for hourly employees.
Calculate hours worked by taking the time between clock-in and clock-out for each shift, subtracting unpaid meal periods, and adding the shifts up for the workweek. Short rest breaks count as hours worked, so they stay in the total; the Department of Labor guide to hours worked explains which time counts.
Time Tracker Pro does that math as your crew works. Each entry keeps its work periods and breaks, the Duration and Total Hours columns show the result, and the Weekly Total, Monthly Total and Custom Range cards add up any stretch you pick. Time between Take Break and End Break is always subtracted, so use it for meal periods and add short paid breaks back with a manual entry if someone tapped it for one.
Pay is hours times each person's Hourly Rate from EmployeeHub, and the CSV data export adds a Calculated Pay column and a totals row for payroll. Access to pay data follows roles and permissions, hours logged against a job roll into Job Costing, and the clock runs on phone, tablet and web. Overtime premiums stay with your payroll provider.
A 15-minute break is paid time under federal law: rest breaks of about 5 to 20 minutes count as hours worked, while a real meal period usually does not. Under 29 CFR 785.18, short breaks must be paid; a bona fide meal period, usually 30 minutes or more with the employee fully relieved of duty, is not. Some states add their own break and meal rules on top.
In QuoteIQ, Take Break stops the work timer and End Break restarts it, and on the time clock break time is kept out of worked hours. That fits unpaid meal periods. For short paid rest breaks, the simplest approach is to stay on the clock, or add the time back with a manual entry, so the hours you export match what you owe.
Each timesheet shows breaks as their own spans, so you can check them day by day in EmployeeHub. Manual entries in Time Tracker Pro add a + Break chip on the shift rail, and the CSV data export can include break counts and durations. Set who may edit time with roles and permissions, keep job hours accurate for Job Costing, and compare plans on plan pricing.
Keep time cards and other records of daily start and stop times for at least two years, and payroll records for at least three years, under the Fair Labor Standards Act; the Department of Labor Fact Sheet 21 lists both periods. For taxes, the IRS asks you to keep employment tax records for at least four years after filing the fourth quarter for the year.
Time Tracker Pro keeps each shift with its start and end times, work periods, breaks and total hours, and the Employee Time tab pulls any range up to Lifetime. Export to CSV at the end of each pay period and store the file with your payroll records. Edits overwrite an entry and deletes are permanent, so limit who can change time with roles and permissions.
Hours live next to your team in EmployeeHub and next to the work in scheduling and Job Costing. For everything else you can take out of QuoteIQ, see data export and plan pricing.
Fix a missed clock-out by editing that entry or adding the right hours as a manual entry. If a shift stays open for more than 20 hours, the phone's My Time tab and the employee clock card show a Still clocked in note, so the person can clock out or ask for a correction.
A user with the Edit Timesheets permission opens the entry from the Employee Time tab and chooses Edit Entry, or uses Actions, then Add Manual Entry, to enter a shift with Hours × Rate, Start & End, Multiple or Flat Rate. Start & End understands overnight work: 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM is read as a shift that ends the next morning, and it checks that the end is after the start and that the shift is no longer than 20 hours.
Set who can edit time with roles and permissions and manage people in EmployeeHub. Linking the corrected entry to a scheduled job keeps Job Costing right, and scheduling shows which job it was. Accurate corrections matter because the FLSA recordkeeping rules expect records of the hours actually worked, and your data export will carry the fixed hours.
Export timesheets for payroll from the Time Tracking screen with Actions, then Export to CSV. Choose a date range (Today, This Week, This Month, Last Month or a custom range), pick the employees, and turn on the columns you need: Hourly Rate, Calculated Pay, Breaks and a Totals Row. QuoteIQ saves a CSV file named for the people and dates in it.
Every row carries the employee, date, type, customer or job, start and end times, duration and total hours. Hand the file to your bookkeeper or upload it to your payroll provider; QuoteIQ does not run payroll or send hours to a payroll service directly. Exporting needs the Export Timesheets permission, and other people's hourly rates and pay are only included for the owner and administrators.
Hourly rates come from each profile in EmployeeHub, and access follows roles and permissions. Other business data can be exported too; see data export. For labor per job, use Job Costing, and check plan pricing for plan details. The Department of Labor overtime fact sheet explains how overtime pay is figured from those hours.
Track labor costs per job by logging time against the job itself, which is what construction time tracking software does for building crews and what any trade needs to price the next job. In QuoteIQ, a scheduled job has a timer next to Complete Job; the timer records the hours on that job, and on iPhone and Android it can start automatically when the assigned employee arrives near the job site and stop when they leave it. Manual entries can also be linked to a scheduled job with Link to Schedule.
Those hours appear in the job's report in Job Costing, where labor is hours times each employee's hourly rate, or a flat amount, and feeds the job's profit and profit margin. Shift clock-ins from the My Time tab are standalone time for payroll; they are not tied to a job unless you link them.
Set rates in EmployeeHub, plan the work in scheduling and dispatching, and control who sees pay with roles and permissions. Knowing real labor cost per job also helps when you price new work, and when you set rates, check the state minimum wage table from the Department of Labor.
Employee time tracking software is either a separate monthly subscription or part of a larger field service plan, and in QuoteIQ it is part of the plan. Time Tracker Pro is included on the Elite plan at $299.99 per month with 10 users and on the Max plan at $699.99 per month with 20 users; the Essentials, Beginner and Pro plans do not include it. You can add more users at $25/per-additional-user/mo on any plan. Elite also comes with 5,000 IQ Credits a month and Max with 8,000 for the AI tools; clocking in and out does not use IQ Credits. Annual billing is available on plan pricing.
Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial. A credit or debit card is required to start. Because Time Tracker Pro sits inside QuoteIQ, the same subscription also covers estimates, scheduling, invoicing and EmployeeHub, so the hours your crew logs connect to the jobs they work on.
Before you choose, it helps to know what your time records must include; the Department of Labor recordkeeping fact sheet is a good checklist.
Overtime for non-exempt hourly employees is paid at one and a half times their regular rate for every hour over 40 in a workweek under federal law; see the Department of Labor overtime fact sheet. Some states go further: California, for example, adds daily overtime after 8 hours and double time after 12.
QuoteIQ does not calculate overtime pay. The Weekly Total, Monthly Total and Custom Range cards on the Employee Time tab show Overtime, On Track or Under by comparing the hours in that range with eight hours a day, and weeks run Monday to Sunday. Use the badge as a signal to look closer, export the week to CSV, and let your payroll provider apply the rules for your state.
Open any person's timesheet from the Employees tab in EmployeeHub to see each day's work periods and breaks. Limit who can edit hours with roles and permissions, keep job hours accurate for Job Costing, plan shifts with scheduling, and send the hours out with data export.
