Quick Answer

QuoteIQ AI Assistant (MCP), also called QuoteIQ MCP, is QuoteIQ's built-in connector that lets Claude, ChatGPT, Grok and other assistants that support custom MCP connectors look up and prepare work in your QuoteIQ account through the open Model Context Protocol, and each AI-created change either waits in QuoteIQ for your approval or runs only after you confirm it in the chat. With one connector URL and one secure sign-in, the assistant gets 224 tools across 22 areas of your business: it can find customers and their history, draft estimates and invoices, and book jobs on the schedule. It is included on every plan, from Essentials at $29.99/month to Max at $699/month (pricing), and premium tools follow the features of your plan; ServiceM8 also runs a first-party MCP server (checked September 23, 2026), and the QuoteIQ vs ServiceM8 comparison shows how the two platforms differ.

TL;DR: Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Grok or another MCP-capable assistant to QuoteIQ in about two minutes and talk to your business: “check on Danielle”, “write her a fall-cleanup estimate”, “book Jake for Tuesday 8 to 11”, “remind me tomorrow”. The assistant reads your records and prepares estimates, invoices and schedules, plus pipeline deals and inventory reorders on Elite and above; you approve in QuoteIQ (default) or confirm in chat (approvals off). Sending estimates, invoices, emails and texts, and charging a customer’s saved card, can happen from the chat, and each asks for your confirmation in the chat first. It reads Client Hub conversations on Pro and above, and the built-in AI Autopilot uses the same records and rules. It runs on the open Model Context Protocol, and approving AI actions first is the control OWASP recommends. Scoped, logged, on every plan.

The Reason We Built AI Assistant (MCP) Into QuoteIQ

Contractors already talk to Claude and ChatGPT all day — to write, to plan, to think. The missing piece was letting that assistant see the business: who owes what, what is booked, what a customer asked for last week. We built the connector so the assistant you already use can do real work in QuoteIQ, and we built the approval screen so it can never do that work without you. Built by contractors, for contractors.

One URL. Your Whole Account. Your Rules.

How it works

The AI Assistant is five small ideas that add up to a very large one: the assistant you already use can now see and prepare your work, and you stay the only person who says yes.

Copy the connector URL from Settings, paste it into Claude, ChatGPT or Grok, and approve QuoteIQ's secure sign-in. Scopes are explicit: read, write, nothing else.

Customers, timelines, unpaid invoices, today's agenda, stale estimates, contact-form leads, files, inventory, analytics — read tools answer instantly, no approval needed.

Estimates, invoices, schedules, deals, tasks, review requests and reorders are prepared with a full preview: who, what, how much.

Every change waits in QuoteIQ as Needs your approval. Turn the rule off and the assistant shows a QuoteIQ confirmation card in chat instead — it still runs only when you press Confirm.

Completed AI changes sit in the same list with a full audit trail (who asked, what ran, when) and an Undo button wherever QuoteIQ can reverse the change.

How to Connect Claude, ChatGPT or Grok to QuoteIQ

Connecting an assistant should feel like signing in, not like plumbing.

Connect your assistant using one QuoteIQ URL and secure sign-in. Start with a read request, such as unpaid invoices or a customer timeline; when you ask for a change, review the prepared record before approving it. The same customer, estimate, invoice and schedule records remain in QuoteIQ. The Model Context Protocol provides the connection format; QuoteIQ applies its own tool permissions and approval rules. Review the safeguards and plan requirements before connecting, and remove the QuoteIQ connector from your assistant when its access is no longer needed.

  1. 1

Open the AI Assistant screen in QuoteIQ

In QuoteIQ go to Settings → Automation → AI Assistant (MCP). On the phone it is the same place.

  2. 2

    Copy your connector URL

Tap Copy connector URL. That single link is all your assistant needs — no API keys, nothing to type.

  3. 3

    Add QuoteIQ to your assistant

Claude: Customize → Connectors → + → Add custom connector → name it QuoteIQ, paste the URL → Add. (Team/Enterprise: an owner adds it under Organization settings → Connectors first.)
ChatGPT: Settings → Apps → Advanced settings → turn on Developer mode, then Settings → Connectors → Create → name, description, paste the URL, Authentication: OAuth, tick I trust this application → Create. (Paid plans; a workspace admin may need to allow it.)
Grok: grok.com/connectors → New Connector → Custom → paste the URL → Add. (Grok Business: a team admin adds it in console.x.ai first.)
Any other assistant that supports MCP works the same way: add a custom/remote MCP connector and paste the URL.

  4. 4

    Sign in and press Connect

QuoteIQ's own sign-in opens. It lists exactly what the assistant may do — read your records, create or update records after your approval rules — and you press Connect.

  5. 5

    Ask your first question

QuoteIQ's sign-in closes and the assistant is connected. Ask it something; its requests appear under Recent AI work. To disconnect, remove the QuoteIQ connector in your assistant's settings.

02 / Ask

Ask About Your Business in Plain English

The answer comes from your data, not from the model's memory.

Read tools need no approval. Ask what is unpaid this week, who has a stale estimate, what today looks like, or what a customer's history is — the assistant calls the matching QuoteIQ tool and answers with real records: customer, invoice number, due date, amount.

Customer timeline

Estimates, invoices, schedules, tasks, deals and Client Hub conversations for one customer in a single call.

Money view

Unpaid invoices, overdue amounts, stale estimate follow-ups and the business dashboard summary.

Day view

Today's agenda, schedule availability and due tasks — ask before you book anything.

Leads and files

Contact-form submissions, campaign analytics, recent files and PDF status when you need them.

Watch invoices_unpaid return three real invoices and a total.

03 / Prepare & approve

The Assistant Prepares. You Approve.

Speed without giving up the last word.

Ask for an invoice and the assistant calls invoices_create with a full preview — customer, line, amount. In QuoteIQ the request appears under Needs your approval with the same details and two buttons. Approve, and it runs; Reject, and nothing changed. Tap Undo later if you change your mind.

Full preview

Every write shows who it is for, what it creates and the total before anything happens.

Approve or Reject

One tap in Settings → AI Assistant. Completed requests stay listed with their outcome.

Confirmed in chat

Switch the approval rule off and the confirmation card appears in the chat instead, with a Confirm button and a ten-minute window.

Undo

Completed changes that QuoteIQ can reverse carry an Undo action; the record is reversed and the audit trail keeps both events.

Watch the request land on the phone and complete on Approve.

Book the Job Without Opening the Calendar

Booking becomes a sentence.

“Book Jake's sod install for Tuesday 8 to 11.” The assistant checks availability, prepares the schedule with the customer, address and window, and QuoteIQ asks you to approve it. Approved, it is on the calendar and the crew sees it.

schedules_create

Jobs or events with a date and time window, tied to the customer and address on file.

Availability first

schedules_availability answers before you commit a slot.

Mark done

schedules_mark_done closes an occurrence from the chat when the crew is finished.

Pipeline too

Create, move and win deals; win-and-invoice in one workflow.

Watch the schedule preview, the approval, and the calendar confirmation.

Every Change Is Previewed, Scoped and Logged, With One-Tap Undo

Automation you can hand to the office manager.

The AI Assistant screen holds the rules: the approval switch, any manual API keys, and every request with its status — Waiting, Applying, Completed, Rejected, Undone. Plan gates and approval rules are enforced on QuoteIQ's servers on every call, and only the account owner can connect an assistant.

Approval switch

Approve changes in QuoteIQ is on by default. Off means confirm-in-chat, never silent execution.

Scoped access

Only the account owner can connect. Read and write scopes are granted at sign-in; remove the connector in your assistant to disconnect.

Undo

Reverse a completed AI change from the same card whenever QuoteIQ can undo it.

Audit trail

Who asked, which tool, what changed, when — on every request.

Watch a completed invoice get undone in one tap.

What is an MCP connector for business software?

An MCP connector lets an AI assistant such as Claude, ChatGPT or Grok use a business app's own tools, and QuoteIQ AI Assistant (MCP), also called QuoteIQ MCP, is the one built into QuoteIQ, so the assistant can work inside your QuoteIQ account. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard assistants use to call tools; QuoteIQ publishes 224 tools across 22 areas of your business — customers, estimates, invoices, schedules, pipeline, tasks and more. You paste one connector URL into the assistant, sign in to QuoteIQ once, and start asking.

MCP describes how an assistant discovers and calls tools; it does not replace your CRM or grant every assistant unrestricted access. Start with the MCP overview if the protocol is new to you. In this page’s demos, the customer and job records remain in QuoteIQ, while the assistant requests a particular operation. Estimates, invoices and schedules keep their existing workflows. Confirm the connected account, available tools and plan access before relying on an answer or approving a draft. QuoteIQ Co-Founders Mike Vidan and Justin Rogers share their contractor experience on their insights pages.

QuoteIQ AI Assistant works with Claude, ChatGPT, Grok and other AI assistants that support custom (remote) MCP connectors: any assistant that accepts a remote MCP server URL with OAuth sign-in connects the same way. In Claude it is added as a custom connector on desktop or web, and in Grok as a custom connector at grok.com/connectors. The assistant signs in through QuoteIQ's secure OAuth screen and receives only the scopes you grant: quoteiq.read and quoteiq.write.

Availability also depends on the assistant account, workspace policies and support for authenticated remote connectors. An administrator may need to enable the connection before a team member can add it. Follow the provider’s current connector instructions rather than assuming every edition has the same menu or permissions. The MCP documentation explains the common protocol; QuoteIQ’s feature catalog explains the business tools on the other side. Test a simple customer lookup before trying an invoice or scheduling workflow. Prefer to stay inside QuoteIQ? The built-in AI Autopilot answers questions about your records, and AI CoPilot edits the estimate you have open.

AI-created changes to QuoteIQ records need approval in QuoteIQ or a confirmation in the chat, depending on the account’s approval setting, and approval in QuoteIQ is on by default. Every AI-created change — a new estimate, invoice, job or task — waits in Settings → Automation → AI Assistant as Needs your approval until you tap Approve or Reject. If you prefer speed, switch Approve changes in QuoteIQ off: the assistant then shows a QuoteIQ confirmation card in the chat and nothing runs until you press Confirm. Either way the request is logged, and completed changes that QuoteIQ can reverse can be undone from the same screen.

Review the customer, amount, line items and dates in the preview against the request you intended to make. A prepared estimate is different from an approved change, and sending a document to a customer is a separate action described in the next answer. The approval flow is a QuoteIQ product behavior, not a general promise about every MCP connection. Use the page’s approval and safeguards demos to see the outcome states. If a request names the wrong record, reject it and clarify the request before trying again. Holding an AI action until a person approves it follows the human-in-the-loop control the OWASP Gen AI Security Project recommends for high-impact actions. The assistant can also prepare invoices, schedules and pipeline deals for review, and your plan decides which of those tools you have.

AI can prepare estimates and customer messages within the connected account’s permissions, and it can send them too, after you confirm in the chat. The connector reads records and prepares work (estimates, invoices, schedules, deals, tasks, reorders, follow-ups), and from the chat it can send an estimate, invoice, email or text to a customer or charge a customer’s saved card; each of those actions first shows a QuoteIQ confirmation card in the chat and runs only when you confirm. Sending uses your templates, e-signature settings and Client Hub number, and nothing reaches a customer or moves money before you confirm.

For example, ask for a draft estimate using the customer and services you specify, inspect its quantities and pricing, and then send it from the chat after you confirm, or open QuoteIQ to send it. Customer-facing communication should use the saved business identity, contact details and document settings in the app. Follow the same distinction for invoices and Proposals: preparing work for review is not proof that the customer has received it. Check the record’s activity and delivery state in QuoteIQ before following up or assuming a document is signed. Marketing follow-ups also have to meet the rules for commercial email that the FTC’s CAN-SPAM compliance guide explains.

A connected AI assistant can retrieve the QuoteIQ records its read tools cover: customers and their timelines (estimates, invoices, schedules, tasks and deals; Client Hub conversations on Pro and above), unpaid invoices, stale estimate follow-ups, today's agenda, schedule availability, contact-form submissions, recent files, PDF status, inventory low-stock, campaign analytics, AI usage, voice-call summaries, notifications, company settings and the business dashboard summary. Only the account owner can connect an assistant.

Match the question to the record you need. An unpaid-invoice question calls for invoice balances and dates; a job-profit question needs the recorded costs, and a calendar question needs the relevant date and team. Review Business Analytics, Job Costing and scheduling for those underlying workflows. Read access is still scoped access: connecting an assistant does not add a feature absent from your plan or expand the permissions of the signed-in user. Verify material details in the source record before taking the next step. Customer names, addresses and payment records are personal information, and the FTC’s guide to protecting personal information recommends giving each person only the access their job needs.

The connector is available on every QuoteIQ plan — Essentials ($29.99/mo), Beginner ($74.99/mo), Pro ($149.99/mo), Elite ($299/mo) and Max ($699/mo). Premium tools follow your plan's features: a tool for a feature your plan does not include (for example Client Hub or contact-form tools on Essentials) tells the assistant it is locked instead of running. See pricing.

Included user allowances are one on Essentials, two on Beginner, four on Pro, ten on Elite and unlimited on Max. A connector being available does not make every business feature available on that tier: Inventory and Job Costing retain their own plan requirements, Client Hub starts on Pro, and mass campaigns and pipelines are Elite and Max features. Your AI assistant provider may have its own subscription or workspace requirements, separate from QuoteIQ: the connector is added in the assistant’s own settings, which Claude calls custom connectors in the MCP guide to remote servers. Review the current comparison and test the exact tool you intend to use. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial.

A credit or debit card is required to start.

Connected AI assistants are restricted by QuoteIQ's own OAuth sign-in: only the account owner can connect one, it receives just two scopes (quoteiq.read and quoteiq.write), and every write is logged with who asked, what changed and when. Plan gates and approval rules are enforced on QuoteIQ's servers, not by the assistant.

Treat access as an ongoing account setting. Connect only the assistant and account you intend to use, review the scopes on QuoteIQ’s sign-in screen, and remove the QuoteIQ connector from any assistant you no longer use, as the MCP guide to remote servers recommends; manual API keys are revoked on the AI Assistant screen. Keep read access, write approval and customer communication as separate decisions. The MCP authorization specification describes the sign-in model, while the safeguards demo on this page shows the supplied QuoteIQ approval workflow. Team members keep their app access in EmployeeHub but cannot connect an assistant, and the built-in AI Autopilot works inside the app without one. No generic protocol claim establishes a product certification; review QuoteIQ’s privacy policy, terms and plan gates, and the assistant provider’s terms for their respective data practices.

Contractors connect an AI assistant by pasting their business software’s MCP connector URL into the assistant and approving the software’s sign-in. In QuoteIQ, open Settings → Automation → AI Assistant (MCP), tap Copy connector URL, add it as a custom connector in Claude, ChatGPT, Grok or another assistant that supports them, and approve QuoteIQ's sign-in as the account owner; it takes about two minutes, and the assistant’s requests then appear under Recent AI work on the same screen.

After connecting, ask a narrow read-only question about one customer or an unpaid invoice. Check that the returned name, date and amount match the QuoteIQ record before requesting a change. Next, prepare a small scheduling or estimating action and inspect the preview and approval outcome. Menu names and remote-connector access vary by provider and account, so use the current provider instructions if your settings differ from the demonstration. Confirm the selected QuoteIQ plan includes the business tool you want to use. Compare the wider workflow in QuoteIQ’s software comparisons. For contractors evaluating CRM AI integration, check the supported tools and permissions against the jobs their team actually performs. The MCP guide to connecting remote servers walks through the same custom-connector steps in Claude.

For developers

Documentation for anyone wiring QuoteIQ into their own MCP client. Protocol: remote MCP over HTTPS; QuoteIQ runs its own MCP server. Auth: OAuth 2.1 with scopes quoteiq.read and quoteiq.write, granted on QuoteIQ's sign-in screen by the account owner; manual API keys can be revoked from Settings → AI Assistant. Every write returns a preview and runs only after approval in QuoteIQ (default) or an in-chat confirmation (ten-minute window). Plan gates are enforced server-side per call, and only the account owner can authorize a connection. The table below lists the 134 tools announced at launch on September 14, 2026; the connector now has 224, including send and payment tools such as estimates_send, invoices_send, messages_send, email_send and payments_charge_saved_card, which always ask for confirmation in the chat (chat_required).
