An MCP connector lets an AI assistant such as Claude, ChatGPT or Grok use a business app's own tools, and QuoteIQ AI Assistant (MCP), also called QuoteIQ MCP, is the one built into QuoteIQ, so the assistant can work inside your QuoteIQ account. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard assistants use to call tools; QuoteIQ publishes 224 tools across 22 areas of your business — customers, estimates, invoices, schedules, pipeline, tasks and more. You paste one connector URL into the assistant, sign in to QuoteIQ once, and start asking.

MCP describes how an assistant discovers and calls tools; it does not replace your CRM or grant every assistant unrestricted access. Start with the MCP overview if the protocol is new to you. In this page’s demos, the customer and job records remain in QuoteIQ, while the assistant requests a particular operation. Estimates, invoices and schedules keep their existing workflows. Confirm the connected account, available tools and plan access before relying on an answer or approving a draft. QuoteIQ AI Assistant works with Claude, ChatGPT, Grok and other AI assistants that support custom (remote) MCP connectors: any assistant that accepts a remote MCP server URL with OAuth sign-in connects the same way. In Claude it is added as a custom connector on desktop or web, and in Grok as a custom connector at grok.com/connectors. The assistant signs in through QuoteIQ's secure OAuth screen and receives only the scopes you grant: quoteiq.read and quoteiq.write.

Availability also depends on the assistant account, workspace policies and support for authenticated remote connectors. An administrator may need to enable the connection before a team member can add it. Follow the provider’s current connector instructions rather than assuming every edition has the same menu or permissions. AI-created changes to QuoteIQ records need approval in QuoteIQ or a confirmation in the chat, depending on the account’s approval setting, and approval in QuoteIQ is on by default. Every AI-created change — a new estimate, invoice, job or task — waits in Settings → Automation → AI Assistant as Needs your approval until you tap Approve or Reject. If you prefer speed, switch Approve changes in QuoteIQ off: the assistant then shows a QuoteIQ confirmation card in the chat and nothing runs until you press Confirm. Either way the request is logged, and completed changes that QuoteIQ can reverse can be undone from the same screen.

Review the customer, amount, line items and dates in the preview against the request you intended to make. A prepared estimate is different from an approved change, and sending a document to a customer is a separate action described in the next answer. The approval flow is a QuoteIQ product behavior, not a general promise about every MCP connection. Use the page’s approval and safeguards demos to see the outcome states. If a request names the wrong record, reject it and clarify the request before trying again. The assistant can also prepare invoices, schedules and pipeline deals for review, and your plan decides which of those tools you have.

AI can prepare estimates and customer messages within the connected account’s permissions, and it can send them too, after you confirm in the chat. The connector reads records and prepares work (estimates, invoices, schedules, deals, tasks, reorders, follow-ups), and from the chat it can send an estimate, invoice, email or text to a customer or charge a customer’s saved card; each of those actions first shows a QuoteIQ confirmation card in the chat and runs only when you confirm. Sending uses your templates, e-signature settings and Client Hub number, and nothing reaches a customer or moves money before you confirm.

For example, ask for a draft estimate using the customer and services you specify, inspect its quantities and pricing, and then send it from the chat after you confirm, or open QuoteIQ to send it. Customer-facing communication should use the saved business identity, contact details and document settings in the app. Follow the same distinction for invoices and Proposals: preparing work for review is not proof that the customer has received it. Check the record’s activity and delivery state in QuoteIQ before following up or assuming a document is signed. A connected AI assistant can retrieve the QuoteIQ records its read tools cover: customers and their timelines (estimates, invoices, schedules, tasks and deals; Client Hub conversations on Pro and above), unpaid invoices, stale estimate follow-ups, today's agenda, schedule availability, contact-form submissions, recent files, PDF status, inventory low-stock, campaign analytics, AI usage, voice-call summaries, notifications, company settings and the business dashboard summary. Only the account owner can connect an assistant.

Match the question to the record you need. An unpaid-invoice question calls for invoice balances and dates; a job-profit question needs the recorded costs, and a calendar question needs the relevant date and team. Review Business Analytics, Job Costing and scheduling for those underlying workflows. Read access is still scoped access: connecting an assistant does not add a feature absent from your plan or expand the permissions of the signed-in user. Customer names, addresses and payment records are personal information, and the FTC’s guide to protecting personal information recommends giving each person only the access their job needs.

The connector is available on every QuoteIQ plan — Essentials ($29.99/mo), Beginner ($74.99/mo), Pro ($149.99/mo), Elite ($299/mo) and Max ($699/mo). Premium tools follow your plan's features: a tool for a feature your plan does not include (for example Client Hub or contact-form tools on Essentials) tells the assistant it is locked instead of running. Included user allowances are one on Essentials, two on Beginner, four on Pro, ten on Elite and unlimited on Max. A connector being available does not make every business feature available on that tier: Inventory and Job Costing retain their own plan requirements, Client Hub starts on Pro, and mass campaigns and pipelines are Elite and Max features. Your AI assistant provider may have its own subscription or workspace requirements, separate from QuoteIQ: the connector is added in the assistant’s own settings, which Claude calls custom connectors in the MCP guide to remote servers. Connected AI assistants are restricted by QuoteIQ's own OAuth sign-in: only the account owner can connect one, it receives just two scopes (quoteiq.read and quoteiq.write), and every write is logged with who asked, what changed and when. Plan gates and approval rules are enforced on QuoteIQ's servers, not by the assistant.

Treat access as an ongoing account setting. Connect only the assistant and account you intend to use, review the scopes on QuoteIQ’s sign-in screen, and remove the QuoteIQ connector from any assistant you no longer use, as the MCP guide to remote servers recommends; manual API keys are revoked on the AI Assistant screen. Keep read access, write approval and customer communication as separate decisions. Team members keep their app access in EmployeeHub but cannot connect an assistant, and the built-in AI Autopilot works inside the app without one. No generic protocol claim establishes a product certification; review QuoteIQ’s privacy policy, terms and plan gates, and the assistant provider’s terms for their respective data practices.

Contractors connect an AI assistant by pasting their business software’s MCP connector URL into the assistant and approving the software’s sign-in. In QuoteIQ, open Settings → Automation → AI Assistant (MCP), tap Copy connector URL, add it as a custom connector in Claude, ChatGPT, Grok or another assistant that supports them, and approve QuoteIQ's sign-in as the account owner; it takes about two minutes, and the assistant’s requests then appear under Recent AI work on the same screen.

After connecting, ask a narrow read-only question about one customer or an unpaid invoice. Check that the returned name, date and amount match the QuoteIQ record before requesting a change. Next, prepare a small scheduling or estimating action and inspect the preview and approval outcome. Menu names and remote-connector access vary by provider and account, so use the current provider instructions if your settings differ from the demonstration.
