Best DocuSign Alternative for Remodeling Contractors (2026)
6 e-signature and proposal tools ranked for kitchen, bath, basement, and whole-home remodelers who want signed contracts and deposits without paying per-user fees for signing alone.
QuoteIQ is the best DocuSign alternative for remodeling contractors in 2026 because customer signing sits inside the same workflow as the estimate — E-Signatures start on the Beginner plan at $74.99/month, alongside Proposals, Attach Contracts, online payments and Consumer Financing, all in one subscription. DocuSign is the best-known standalone signing tool, but it charges $30 to $45 per user per month (billed annually) for signing only. PandaDoc wins for polished proposal documents, Dropbox Sign is the cheapest standalone signer, JobTread is the strongest construction-native option at $199/month base, and Buildertrend is the heavyweight project-management suite with no published pricing. The right pick depends on whether you want signing alone, signing plus estimating and payments, or a full construction project-management system.
TL;DR: Remodeling contracts are bigger, slower, and messier than a typical service call — scope changes, allowances, deposits, and progress payments all need a signature trail. QuoteIQ takes Best Bundled Solution because E-Signatures, Proposals, Attach Contracts (for change orders, warranties and specs), online payments and Consumer Financing share one customer record. DocuSign wins for brand recognition and its 1,000+ integrations. PandaDoc wins for design-forward proposal documents. Dropbox Sign wins for the lowest-cost standalone signing. JobTread wins for construction-native estimating and change orders. Buildertrend wins for large builders who want everything in one project-management platform but must request a quote. All pricing below was verified on October 1, 2026 directly from each vendor’s pricing page.

Why Remodeling Contractors Look for a DocuSign Alternative
Remodeling is a contract-heavy trade. A kitchen or bath job is rarely a single signature: there is the initial agreement, a deposit, allowance selections, a change order when the homeowner moves a wall, and a final sign-off. A signing tool that is priced per user and separate from your estimating software forces you to move the same customer data between apps every time.
DocuSign is excellent at what it does — collecting a legally recognized signature on a document. But on DocuSign’s own plan page, Standard and Business Pro both list 100 envelopes per user per year, payment collection is a Business Pro feature only, and every plan is priced per user. If your goal is to get a homeowner from estimate to signed contract to deposit, a signing-only tool covers one of those three steps.
The alternative is not always cheaper signing. For most remodelers it is signing that lives inside the estimate: the homeowner opens one link, reviews scope and price, signs, and pays a deposit without you re-keying anything. That is the lens used to rank every tool on this page.
Say a five-person remodeling company has three people sending contracts. On DocuSign Standard at $30 per user per month (billed annually), that is $90/month or $1,080/year for signing alone — before any estimating, invoicing, or payment tool. On DocuSign Business Pro ($45 per user, billed annually), the same three seats cost $135/month or $1,620/year. QuoteIQ Pro at $149.99/month includes 4 users, signing, proposals and a customer portal in the same subscription. These are example numbers, not benchmarks — run your own seat count.
One legal note: federal law (the ESIGN Act) and most state laws recognize electronic signatures for the majority of contracts, but home-improvement contracts can carry state-specific content and notice requirements, such as required disclosures or cancellation rights. Have a local attorney confirm the language of your contract template regardless of which signing tool you use.
How We Ranked Them
Most “best alternative” lists are sorted by affiliate commission. This one is sorted by what helps a remodeling contractor get from estimate to signed contract to deposit. Competitor pricing was verified live against vendor pricing pages on October 1, 2026. Anything we could not verify is left out or marked “pricing not publicly available — contact vendor.”
The 6 ranking factors
- Signing workflow. Can a homeowner review and sign on a phone in under a minute, with no account or app? Is the signed copy stored automatically?
- Estimate-to-contract flow. Does the signature attach to the estimate or proposal itself, or is it a separate document you upload each time?
- Deposits and payments. Can the customer pay a deposit or progress payment from the same link, and on which plan?
- Change orders and remodeling fit. How does the tool handle scope changes, allowances, and multi-phase jobs?
- Total cost of ownership. Per-user fees, plan gates, and the cost of the extra tools you still need.
- Pricing transparency. Is pricing published? Every price on this page was checked against the vendor’s own pricing page on October 1, 2026; where a vendor does not publish pricing, we say so.

QuoteIQ — Best Bundled DocuSign Alternative for Remodelers
Best for: Remodelers who want signing, proposals, deposits and financing tied to the estimate · Pricing: $74.99/mo (Beginner) and up for e-signaturesQuoteIQ wins this list because it does not treat the signature as a separate product. A remodeling estimate built in QuoteIQ can carry a company introduction, scope, project photos, reviews, supporting documents and price in one customer-facing Proposals, and the homeowner signs it from their phone with a guided flow. E-Signatures work on estimates and invoices: the customer draws a signature with a finger, stylus or mouse, with no app to download and no account to create, and the signed copy is stored on the customer record. QuoteIQ states there are no per-signature fees and no usage limits.
For contract packages, Attach Contracts lets you bundle service agreements, insurance certificates, contractor licenses, warranties, material specifications and change orders with the estimate before it goes out. Attachments are supporting documents the customer views; signing is a separate step you pair with them, so you can attach your contract and have the homeowner e-sign the estimate in one workflow. For documents that are not tied to an estimate, QuoteIQ Sign lets you upload a contract, place signature, initials and date fields, group multiple files into one set, and send a single signing link — it runs in the QuoteIQ web app and is described as in early access, so test it in the free trial before relying on it for your standard contract.
Then the money side: deposits and progress payments go through online payments (cards, ACH, Apple Pay and Google Pay) on every plan, and Consumer Financing lets homeowners finance larger projects through a Stripe-side setting rather than a higher QuoteIQ tier. On Pro and up, the Client Portal gives homeowners one place to view their documents. MapMeasure Pro adds satellite measurements to estimate line items on Beginner and up.
QuoteIQ plans: Essentials $29.99 (1 user), Beginner $74.99 (2 users), Pro $149.99 (4 users), Elite $299 (10 users), Max $699 (unlimited users). E-Signatures start on Beginner. Proposals cost 100 IQ credits per estimate on Essentials, Beginner and Pro, and are unlimited on Elite and Max. A 14-day free trial is available on every plan. A credit or debit card is required to start the trial. Honest gap: QuoteIQ is a general home-service platform, not a construction project-management suite — it does not replace budgeting, selections and multi-phase scheduling tools like those in JobTread or Buildertrend, and its remodeling industry page does not describe a dedicated change-order workflow, so change orders are handled as attached documents that the customer signs.
- E-signatures on estimates and invoices from $74.99/month (Beginner) — no per-signature fees, no usage limits
- Proposals combine scope, photos, reviews, documents and price in one signable customer document
- Attach contracts, warranties, licenses, specs and change orders to the estimate
- Online payments on every plan, so a deposit can be collected from the same customer record
- Consumer Financing available on every plan via a Stripe-side setting
- Flat plan pricing by tier instead of per-signer licensing; Max includes unlimited users
- 4.7-star rating across 4,100+ verified App Store and Google Play reviews
- 14-day free trial with published pricing
- Not a full construction project-management suite (no budgeting, selections or WIP reporting)
- No dedicated change-order workflow described on the remodeling page — change orders are attached and signed as documents
- QuoteIQ Sign for standalone documents is in web early access — test it in the trial
- E-Signatures start at Beginner ($74.99); Essentials does not include them
- Client Portal requires Pro ($149.99) or higher
- Proposals use IQ credits on Essentials, Beginner and Pro
If you run a remodeling company that sells from an estimate, needs a signature and a deposit before you order materials, and does not want a separate per-user signing subscription, QuoteIQ is the right pick. Choose differently if you need full project budgeting and selections management (pick JobTread or Buildertrend) or if you only need to sign documents that never touch an estimate (pick Dropbox Sign).
“i’m a self employed handyman and i believe this app is perfect for organization.”
DocuSign — Best Known Standalone E-Signature Tool
Best for: Companies that need the most recognized signing brand and deep integrations · Pricing: $11–$45/user/mo billed annuallyDocuSign is the tool most homeowners and commercial clients have already used, which removes friction on the customer side. Per DocuSign’s own plan page, all eSignature plans include reusable templates and mobile-responsive signing, and the company lists 1,000+ integrations. For a remodeling contractor whose clients include property managers, architects or lenders that already live in DocuSign, that familiarity is a real advantage.
The pricing structure is where remodelers feel it. As listed on the DocuSign plan page: Personal is $11/month billed annually for a single user with 5 envelopes per month; Standard is $30 per user per month billed annually (up to 50 users, 100 envelopes per user per year, custom branding, shareable templates); Business Pro is $45 per user per month billed annually with the same 100-envelope allowance plus payment collection, bulk send and locked templates. Payment collection is not available on Personal or Standard, so collecting a deposit through the same document requires the top signing tier.
What DocuSign does not do is estimate, schedule, invoice or run your remodeling business — it signs the document you built somewhere else. That means a second subscription, a second customer record, and manual re-entry between your estimating tool and your signing tool. If signing is your only gap and your contract templates are stable, DocuSign is a safe choice; if you are also paying for estimating and payments elsewhere, the stack adds up quickly compared with an all-in-one like QuoteIQ.
- Most recognized e-signature brand — familiar to homeowners, lenders and commercial clients
- 1,000+ integrations listed on the vendor plan page
- Reusable templates on every plan; custom branding from Standard
- Payment collection and bulk send available on Business Pro
- Mature product with a long track record in regulated document workflows
- Per-user pricing ($30–$45 per user per month billed annually) scales with every salesperson who sends contracts
- Personal is limited to 1 user and 5 envelopes per month; Standard and Business Pro list 100 envelopes per user per year
- Payment collection is Business Pro only
- Signing only — no estimating, scheduling, invoicing or job management
- You still need a separate estimating tool and separate customer records
Pick DocuSign if your clients or lenders require it, or if you already have estimating and payments handled elsewhere and only need a trusted signing layer. For remodelers who want signing, estimates and deposits in one place, QuoteIQ is the better total-cost play.
PandaDoc — Best for Polished Proposal Documents
Best for: Remodelers who send design-heavy proposals and want a document builder · Pricing: $19–$49/seat/mo (listed)PandaDoc sits between a signing tool and a proposal builder. Its pricing page lists a Free plan ($0, 5 documents per month), Starter at $19 per seat per month with unlimited uploads and e-signatures, Business at $49 per seat per month, and custom Enterprise pricing. The Business plan adds custom quotes and sales agreements, CRM integrations, payment collection, deal rooms and approval workflows.
For remodelers, the appeal is presentation: a branded, designed proposal with scope, pricing and signature in one document. The limit is that PandaDoc is a document platform, not a remodeling business system. It does not schedule jobs, manage crews, or run your invoicing and job records, so you would still pair it with a separate tool. Pricing is per seat, so a team of five on Business is roughly $245/month at the listed rate — confirm the billing term (monthly versus annual) with the vendor before budgeting.
- Unlimited e-signatures from the Starter plan
- Free plan available for very low-volume use (5 documents per month)
- Business plan adds payment collection, CRM integrations and approval workflows
- Strong document design for proposals and sales agreements
- Enterprise tier adds CPQ, SSO and notary services for large teams
- Per-seat pricing ($19–$49 per seat per month listed) adds up as more people send proposals
- Payment collection and CRM integrations require the Business plan
- Not a remodeling or job-management system — no scheduling, crews or job costing
- Free plan is capped at 5 documents per month
- You still need a separate estimating and invoicing tool
PandaDoc is a strong pick when proposal design is the priority and you already have your estimating and job tracking covered. If you want the proposal, signature, deposit and job record in one subscription, QuoteIQ covers more of the workflow.
Want signing, proposals and deposits in one subscription?
QuoteIQ bundles e-signatures (Beginner and up), proposals, contract attachments, online payments and consumer financing with the estimate. See it on a real remodeling estimate in a 14-day free trial. A credit or debit card is required to start.
Dropbox Sign — Best Budget Standalone Signing
Best for: Solo remodelers who only need signatures and already have estimating covered · Pricing: from $10.05/mo billed annuallyDropbox Sign (formerly HelloSign) is the simplest and least expensive standalone signer on this list. Its pricing page lists Essentials at $15/month or $10.05/month billed annually ($120.60 per year) for one user, Standard at $25 per user per month or $17.50 per user per month billed annually (from $420 per year) for 2 to 5 users, and custom-quoted Premium for 5 or more users. Signers pay nothing, and paid plans include a 30-day free trial.
Essentials lists unlimited signing, 5 templates, and basic integrations including Google Drive, Microsoft Word and HubSpot. Standard adds 15 templates, SMS authentication, advanced signer fields and advanced reporting. For a solo remodeler with a fixed contract template, that is enough. The trade-off is scope: it signs documents and nothing else. There is no estimate builder, no invoicing, and no place to take a deposit on the plans described on the pricing page.
- Lowest-priced standalone signing on this list (from $10.05/month billed annually)
- Unlimited signing on Essentials
- Signers pay nothing to sign
- 30-day free trial on paid plans
- Simple setup for a single fixed contract template
- Signing only — no estimating, invoicing or payment collection listed
- Essentials is capped at 1 user and 5 templates; Standard at 15 templates and 2 to 5 users
- Premium (5+ users) is quote-based
- Separate customer records from your estimating tool
- No remodeling-specific features such as proposals or change orders
Dropbox Sign is a good fit for a solo or two-person remodeler who only needs a signature on a stable contract. Once you want the signature tied to an estimate and a deposit, an all-in-one like QuoteIQ replaces both tools.
JobTread — Best Construction-Native Option
Best for: Remodelers who want estimating, change orders and signing built for construction · Pricing: $199/mo base + per-user feesJobTread is built for contractors rather than adapted to them. Its pricing page describes a single plan with all features included: a $199/month base, additional internal users from $20/month each (with volume discounts for larger teams, down to $5/month per user at 31 or more), and free unlimited external users — customers, vendors, subcontractors and basic field crew. Annual billing saves 20%, and monthly subscriptions carry a 30-day money-back guarantee with no setup fees or contracts.
On the feature side, the vendor lists Contracts & eSignatures within its sales and estimating tools, full change-order management within job finances, customer invoices, and online payments. For a remodeler that lives on change orders, allowances and job costing, that is the closest construction-native fit on this list. At five internal users the listed pricing works out to roughly $279/month ($199 base plus four additional users at $20) — confirm how JobTread counts users before budgeting.
- Contracts & eSignatures, change orders, invoices and online payments listed on one plan
- Free unlimited external users, including customers and subcontractors
- All features included — no tiered feature gating
- 20% savings on annual billing; 30-day money-back on monthly
- Built for construction workflows rather than generic services
- $199/month base is a higher entry point than QuoteIQ Beginner ($74.99)
- Per-user fees ($20/month each for users 2–10) scale with team size
- Broader project-management surface means more setup than a signing-first tool
- Less focus on consumer-facing tools like self-service quoting
JobTread is the strongest pick if change orders, job costing and construction workflows are the deciding factor and the $199 base fits your budget. If your main goal is a lower-cost path from estimate to signature to deposit, QuoteIQ starts at $74.99 for e-signatures.
Buildertrend — Best Full Project-Management Suite
Best for: Established builders and remodelers running 5+ projects a year who want one construction platform · Pricing: not publicly available — contact vendorBuildertrend is the heavyweight of this list. Its pricing page does not publish plan prices; instead, prospects complete a form indicating builder type and annual construction volume, and a sales representative provides a custom quote. The page also mentions a 10% discount on annual subscriptions paid upfront. Pricing not publicly available — contact vendor.
On features, the pricing page lists a Proposals tool, digital contracts as part of sales management, and change orders under project management, along with unlimited users and unlimited projects, QuickBooks, Xero and Gusto integrations, and 24/7 support with virtual training. It targets builders managing five or more projects a year. For a large remodeling firm that wants scheduling, budgets, selections and client communication in one construction-specific system, that scope is the appeal; for a small remodeler that needs signatures and deposits, it is likely more platform than needed.
- Proposals, digital contracts and change orders listed on the vendor pricing page
- Unlimited users and unlimited projects
- Integrations with QuickBooks, Xero and Gusto
- 24/7 support, virtual trainings and a Help Center
- Designed for established builders managing multiple concurrent projects
- Pricing is not published — you must request a quote based on your construction volume
- Sized for builders with 5+ projects per year; heavy for a small remodeler who only needs signing
- Sales-led onboarding rather than a self-serve trial
- No published per-signature or per-plan cost to compare directly
Buildertrend is the right conversation to have if you run a larger construction operation and want a single project-management system. If you want transparent pricing and a fast path to signed estimates and deposits, QuoteIQ or JobTread are easier to evaluate.
Which Tool Wins for Your Remodeling Business?
Three real-world scenarios drawn from how remodeling companies work. Each ends with an honest recommendation — and not all of them recommend QuoteIQ.
Two-person kitchen and bath remodeler sending 6–8 estimates a month
Owner plus a project manager. Estimates are built on a phone at the homeowner’s kitchen table; contracts are a standard PDF; a 30–50% deposit is due at signing.
The pain: the estimate lives in one tool, the contract in another, and the deposit is a third step that happens days later.
→ Recommendation: QuoteIQ Beginner ($74.99/mo, 2 users) — e-signatures on the estimate, contract attached, and online payment on the same customer record.Solo remodeler with a fixed contract who only needs signatures
One-person operation. Estimates are done in a spreadsheet the owner is happy with. The only gap is collecting a legal signature quickly from homeowners.
The pain: chasing printed contracts and photographed signatures.
→ Recommendation: Dropbox Sign Essentials (from $10.05/mo billed annually) — cheapest way to close the signing gap if nothing else needs to change.Ten-person design-build firm running multi-phase projects with frequent change orders
Multiple concurrent jobs, allowances, selections, subcontractors and a client who changes the scope mid-project.
The pain: change orders, budgets and subcontractor coordination matter more than the signature itself.
→ Recommendation: JobTread ($199/mo base + users) or Buildertrend (quote required) — pick a construction-native system when project management is the real need. The Real Cost of Signing Software for Remodelers
Numbers that matter before you pick any tool on this list.
Stack cost: Three DocuSign Standard seats are $90/month ($1,080/year) at the listed annual-billing rate; three Business Pro seats are $135/month ($1,620/year). Add an estimating tool and a payment processor and the signing layer is only one line of the bill. PandaDoc Business for three seats is $147/month at the listed $49 per seat.
Speed math (hypothetical): A remodeling company sends 60 proposals a year at an average contract value of $15,000. If moving from print-and-return to same-visit mobile signing helps close just two additional jobs a year, that is $30,000 in added contract value. These figures are an example to show the calculation, not a benchmark or a guarantee — swap in your own numbers.
Bundle math: QuoteIQ Pro at $149.99/month ($1,799.88/year) includes 4 users, E-Signatures and Proposals. Compare that against your current signing subscription plus the tools you would still need beside it.
The structural point holds regardless of the inputs: a signing-only tool prices the signature, while a bundled platform prices the workflow. Run both totals with your real seat count before deciding.

Frequently Asked Questions
QuoteIQ is the best DocuSign alternative for remodeling contractors in 2026 because E-Signatures on estimates and invoices start at $74.99/month on the Beginner plan and sit alongside Proposals, Attach Contracts, online payments and Consumer Financing in one subscription. DocuSign wins for name recognition and integrations, PandaDoc for polished proposal documents, Dropbox Sign for the cheapest standalone signing, JobTread for construction-native change orders, and Buildertrend for full project management with quote-based pricing. Pick based on whether you need signing only, signing plus estimating and deposits, or a full project-management system.
Per DocuSign’s eSignature plan page, verified October 1, 2026: Personal is $11/month billed annually for one user with 5 envelopes per month; Standard is $30 per user per month billed annually; Business Pro is $45 per user per month billed annually. Standard and Business Pro list 100 envelopes per user per year, and payment collection and bulk send are Business Pro only. Because pricing is per user, a three-person sales team on Standard is $90/month. By comparison, QuoteIQ starts at $74.99/month for e-signatures and includes flat plan pricing by tier, with 2 users on Beginner and 4 on Pro.
Yes. With E-Signatures, the homeowner opens a link sent by text or email, reviews the estimate, and draws their signature on-screen with a finger, stylus or mouse — no app to download and no account to create. The signed copy is stored on the customer record. Proposals adds a guided signing flow inside a customer-facing proposal, and Attach Contracts lets you attach service agreements, warranties, licenses, material specs and change orders to the estimate. E-Signatures are available from the Beginner plan ($74.99/month). Have a local attorney confirm your contract language, since home-improvement contracts can carry state-specific requirements.
Not entirely. QuoteIQ is a general home-service platform covering estimates, proposals, e-signatures, invoicing, scheduling and payments. JobTread and Buildertrend are construction-specific systems; the JobTread pricing page lists change orders within job finances, and the Buildertrend pricing page lists change orders under project management. QuoteIQ’s remodeling page does not describe a dedicated change-order workflow, so change orders are handled as attached documents that the homeowner signs. If project budgeting, selections and multi-phase management are central to how you run jobs, a construction-native system is the better fit; if you mainly need to get from estimate to signed contract to deposit, QuoteIQ costs less and is simpler.
It depends on the tool. In QuoteIQ, online payments (cards, ACH, Apple Pay and Google Pay) are included on every plan and Consumer Financing is available on every plan through a Stripe-side setting, so the deposit is collected from the same customer record as the signed estimate. On DocuSign, payment collection is listed only on Business Pro ($45 per user per month billed annually). PandaDoc lists payment collection on Business ($49 per seat per month). JobTread lists online payments within its single plan. Dropbox Sign’s pricing page does not list payment collection.
QuoteIQ plans are Essentials $29.99/month (1 user), Beginner $74.99/month (2 users), Pro $149.99/month (4 users), Elite $299/month (10 users) and Max $699/month (unlimited users). E-Signatures start on Beginner. Every plan has a 14-day free trial. A credit or debit card is required to start the trial. See the QuoteIQ pricing page for current details.
E-Signatures are signatures captured on an estimate or invoice: the homeowner reviews the document and draws a signature on-screen. Proposals is a customer-facing document that combines your company introduction, scope, project photos, reviews, supporting documents and price, with a guided signing flow. QuoteIQ Sign is for standalone documents that are not tied to an estimate: you upload a contract, place signature, initials and date fields, and send one signing link — it runs in the QuoteIQ web app and is in early access, so test it in the free trial before making it your default. Use E-Signatures or Proposals for estimates; use QuoteIQ Sign when a document stands on its own.
Federal law (the ESIGN Act) and most state laws recognize electronic signatures for the majority of contracts, but home-improvement and remodeling contracts can be subject to state-specific content, notice and cancellation requirements. QuoteIQ describes its signatures as strong evidence of mutual agreement and recommends consulting a local attorney for formal compliance requirements. Whichever tool you choose — QuoteIQ, DocuSign or another — have an attorney review your contract template and confirm which disclosures your state requires before you send it for signature. This page is general information, not legal advice.
Stop paying per user just to collect a signature. Sign, get paid, and schedule from one place.
QuoteIQ bundles e-signatures (Beginner and up), proposals, contract attachments, online payments and consumer financing with the remodeling estimate itself. Try it free for 14 days. A credit or debit card is required to start.
