Best Satellite Measuring Software for Roofing Contractors in 2026
Published June 2026 · Updated September 2026
Six satellite, aerial and 3D measuring tools for roofers, ranked by how they measure, what measurement costs you, and how well each one connects to the rest of your estimate-to-invoice workflow.
By Mike Vidan, Co-Founder of QuoteIQ · Reviewed September 2026 · 40 min read
QuoteIQ is the best satellite measuring software for roofing contractors in 2026 because its built-in MapMeasure Pro measures roof area, pitch, ridges, valleys and eaves from satellite imagery inside the estimate itself, with no per-measurement charge, and passes the numbers straight into an Options Estimate on a flat-rate platform that starts at Beginner for $74.99 per month. EagleView fits insurance-driven roofing where a carrier or adjuster asks for a specific aerial report. Roofr pairs measurement reports with proposals and a roofing CRM. Hover builds 3D property models from smartphone photos for design visualization. JobNimbus is a roofing CRM that connects to measurement providers, and AccuLynx is a roofing-only management suite. We do not reprint competitor prices on this page because vendors change them often; each vendor’s own pricing page is the place to confirm current rates.
TL;DR: QuoteIQ ranks first because MapMeasure Pro (Beginner and up) auto-traces the roof and detects pitch inside the estimate with no per-measurement charge, then feeds Options Estimates, QuoteIQ Cam job photos, the AI Estimator, e-signatures, scheduling and invoicing from $74.99 a month. EagleView suits insurance-driven work, Roofr pairs measurements with proposals, Hover adds 3D design, and JobNimbus and AccuLynx are roofing CRMs; check their own sites for pricing. Skipping rooftop climbs matters too: OSHA’s fall-protection trigger in construction is six feet, and BLS ranks roofers among the highest injury and fatality rates.
Winners by Category
Six tools, six different jobs. Here is who wins each category before we get into the detail.
QuoteIQ
Satellite roof measurement built into the estimate with no per-measurement fee, plus invoicing, scheduling, photo documentation and AI tools in one plan from $74.99/mo. See the Beginner plan or the roofing software page.
EagleView
Aerial-imagery measurement reports that insurance-focused roofers already know, with 3D models and roofing CRM integrations listed on its own site.
Roofr
A roofing specialist that bundles measurement reports, instant estimates, proposals, a CRM, payments and material ordering, according to its own homepage.
Hover
Turns smartphone photos of a property into a 3D model so homeowners can see products on their own house before they sign.
JobNimbus
A roofing-focused CRM and project-management platform that lists EagleView measurements among its integrations.
AccuLynx
Built exclusively for roofing contractors, covering sales, production, finance and operations, with supplier ordering integrations.
Why Satellite Measurement Matters for Roofing Contractors
Every residential roofing estimate starts with a measurement, and every day between the phone call and the number is a day a competitor can use. Satellite roof measurement replaces the ladder and the tape measure with a property address: type it in and you get roof area, pitch by plane, and ridge, valley and eave lengths back in seconds, before anyone drives to the property. For a contractor who quotes several jobs a week, that change compounds. The roofing software you choose decides whether measurement is a step you finish once inside the estimate or a separate purchase you make on every job.
Measuring from the ground also takes climbs off the schedule. OSHA states that fall protection must be provided at six feet in the construction industry, and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics says roofers have “one of the highest rates of injuries and illnesses of all occupations, as well as one of the highest rates of occupational fatalities” in its Occupational Outlook Handbook entry for roofers (page updated August 27, 2026). BLS counted 166,900 roofers in 2025, reports median pay of $55,440 a year, and projects 5% growth from 2025 to 2035, with about 12,000 openings a year. Satellite measurement does not replace the final on-site check before you order materials, but it removes the roof climb from every initial quote, and the annual BLS Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries is a reminder of why that is worth doing.

Beginner’s $74.99 monthly price divided by 20 quotes, even if measurement were the only thing you used the plan for.
Storm work adds a clock. After a hail or wind event, homeowners call several contractors, and the first credible number often wins the inspection. The NOAA NCEI Storm Events Database documents storms and significant weather back to January 1950, which makes it a practical way to check what actually hit a neighborhood before you knock on doors. Pair that with a same-day satellite measurement and you can quote from the truck instead of booking a visit for Tuesday. A Virtual Call Team that answers inbound calls around the clock, screens out spam and captures the caller’s details (usage is metered in IQ Credits) and a phone-based e-signature on the estimate close the loop from first call to signed job.
The category splits into three approaches in 2026. Imagery-based measurement tools work from an address: QuoteIQ’s MapMeasure Pro measures inside the estimate from satellite imagery, while EagleView and Roofr deliver measurement reports you order for a property. Photo-based 3D modeling, which is Hover’s approach, builds a model from smartphone photos of the property. Roofing CRMs such as JobNimbus and AccuLynx manage the sales and production pipeline and connect to measurement providers rather than being measurement tools first. Each approach serves a different workflow, and plenty of serious roofing operations use more than one.
The cost model is the financial pressure point of the category. Some tools sell measurement by the report, some fold it into a subscription, and some, like MapMeasure Pro, include it in the plan price. Because vendors change their rates, this page does not print competitor figures. Go to each vendor’s own pricing page and run your own numbers with one formula: monthly measurement spend equals quotes per month times the fee per report. At 25 quotes a month, every dollar of per-report fee is $25 a month. MapMeasure Pro is a flat-rate feature on Beginner and above, so its per-measurement fee is $0.
Roofing measurement ROI math
Per-report math: quotes per month × fee per report = monthly measurement spend. Pull the fee from the vendor’s pricing page, then compare it with $0 per measurement on Beginner ($74.99/mo), Pro ($149.99/mo), Elite ($299/mo) or Max ($699/mo).
Site-visit math: the IRS business mileage rate is 76 cents a mile from July 1, 2026 (72.5 cents from January 1 through June 30), per the IRS standard mileage rates page. A 30-mile round trip costs $22.80 at that rate, so ten pre-quote visits you skip in a month is $228 of vehicle cost, before counting the crew time and the fuel-price swings the standard rate averages out.
Bundled-versus-standalone math: a standalone measurement tool is one more subscription, one more login and one more place for customer data to sit. Beginner at $74.99 a month also includes estimates, invoicing, scheduling and QuoteIQ Cam photo documentation. Spread over 20 quotes a month, the whole plan is $3.75 per quote, and that is the worst case because you are using far more than measurement.
The bundled-versus-standalone question is where the decision branches. Standalone measurement tools are purpose-built for measurement depth, and for some workflows, such as insurance restoration where a specific report is required, that depth is the whole point. But a standalone tool still needs a CRM, an invoicing system and usually a photo-documentation tool around it. Platforms that bundle measurement with scheduling, invoicing, payments and customer communication remove that fragmentation. The right answer depends on whether you already have a CRM you are committed to or are evaluating your whole software stack, and the honest scenarios further down this page split it out by business type.
How We Ranked Them
Best-of lists online are mostly affiliate revenue. This one is written by QuoteIQ, and we ranked our own platform first, so here is exactly how it was built. We scored each tool for residential roofing contractors, from a solo operator quoting storm leads to a multi-crew company, on six criteria. For competitors, each vendor’s own website is our source for what the product is and does, checked on September 25, 2026. We deliberately left out competitor prices, seat counts, trial lengths and “does not include” claims, because those change and are best confirmed on the vendor’s own pricing page. For QuoteIQ, every plan, price and feature statement is checked against QuoteIQ’s own pricing page and feature pages, including the live MapMeasure Pro page.
Measurement method
Does the tool measure remotely from imagery, or does it start from photos taken at the property? How well does it handle multi-plane roofs with dormers and penetrations?
Cost model at volume
Is measurement included, billed per report or tied to a subscription? What does it cost to quote 20 to 50 roofs a month once you use the formula above?
Estimate workflow
Does the measurement flow directly into an estimate in the same platform, or does it need an export, a re-entry step or a third-party connection?
Insurance restoration fit
If a carrier or adjuster specifies a report vendor, can you order it, and does your CRM keep the paperwork organized around it?
Field usability
Roofers work in trucks and driveways. We weight tools that work on a phone, a tablet and a laptop, and that keep working when the job is not at a desk.
Total cost of ownership
Subscription, per-report fees, add-ons for texting or CRM and the third-party tools needed to fill gaps, compared as a full monthly stack rather than a headline price.

The 6 Best Satellite Measuring Tools for Roofing Contractors in 2026
Each entry covers what the tool is, who it fits, an honest limitation and where to confirm pricing.
QuoteIQ
Best all-in-one satellite measuring platform for roofing contractorsQuoteIQ wins this list because it puts satellite roof measurement inside a complete field service workflow and charges nothing per measurement. MapMeasure Pro loads the satellite view when you type a property address into the estimate builder. AI Measurement auto-traces the roof (the feature page puts the trace time at about three seconds), AI Pitch Detection reads the slope from the imagery and applies the multiplier that converts flat map area into true surface area, and roof-plane tracing lets you measure each face of the roof individually. Ridges, valleys and eave lengths are measured right on screen, and the numbers feed straight into the quote. There is no separate app, no export step and no report to wait for.
MapMeasure Pro has kept growing. Roof segments can be detected automatically from solar data with color-coded pitch, a screenshot of the measured outline can be attached to the estimate as visual proof of scope, and an aerial-imagery timeline lets you scroll back through years of photos of a property, which is handy for spotting an addition or a roofline change before you quote. Property Street View and Zillow Quick Access sit alongside it. Two related AI tools are worth knowing about: Roof & Pitch Measurement, an AI tool that measures roof dimensions and pitch from aerial imagery, and AI AutoMeasure with its saved Measurement Library. Those AI tools draw on the IQ Credits that come with your plan, and an AI AutoMeasure run costs 100 IQ Credits. MapMeasure Pro itself is a flat-rate feature of Beginner and above; the IQ Credit usage is on the AI-assisted tools around it, and we would rather you know that before you sign up.
What happens next is where the platform earns the top spot. The measurement flows into an Options Estimate, where you can present good, better and best tiers side by side, for example a 3-tab shingle, an architectural shingle and an impact-resistant shingle, or into a Package Estimate that sets a repair against a full replacement. The AI Estimator builds a line-item quote from property photos and follow-up questions. QuoteIQ Cam documents pre-existing damage, flashing and installation progress with 4K photos and job reports, and the Before & After photo editor and AI image generator help homeowners picture the finished roof. The customer approves with an e-signature on their phone, and you invoice from the same job with invoicing, online payments and consumer financing through Affirm, Klarna or Afterpay.
Around that core sit the pieces a growing roofing company eventually needs: scheduling with drag-and-drop calendar views, the Virtual Call Team for after-hours storm calls, ClientHub two-way calling and texting, job costing and QuickBooks Online sync from Pro up, and EmployeeHub with GPS tracking, route optimization, InstaQuote and InstaSchedule from Elite up. You can read how the whole stack maps to the trade on the roofing software page and the roofing FAQ.
The honest limitations: MapMeasure Pro measures from satellite imagery, so it is not an insurer-specified report product. If your carrier or adjuster names a report vendor, order that vendor’s report. Imagery has the same limits everywhere, because tree cover, imagery age and new construction can hide or outdate a roof, which is why a quick on-site confirmation before you order materials is still good practice. And QuoteIQ is a home service CRM with a roofing industry page, not a roofing-only platform, so a storm-restoration shop whose day is built around insurance paperwork should test it against a roofing-only CRM using the scenarios below.
Pros
- $0 per measurement on MapMeasure Pro, included from Beginner up
- AI auto-trace and AI Pitch Detection inside the estimate, with no export step
- Options and Package Estimates present shingle tiers or repair-versus-replace in one quote
- QuoteIQ Cam documents damage and progress with unlimited 4K photo and video storage
- AI Estimator, Virtual Call Team and e-signatures on the same platform
- 4.7 average across 4,103 reviews, with iOS, Android and web apps
Cons
- Satellite imagery, not an insurer-specified report product
- Tree cover, imagery age and new construction can limit any imagery-based measurement
- AI-assisted measurement tools such as Roof & Pitch and AI AutoMeasure use IQ Credits
- A general home service CRM rather than a roofing-only platform
Quick verdict
For residential roofers who quote retail work at volume and want satellite measurement, tiered estimating, job photo documentation, an AI estimator and customer communication in one flat-rate platform, QuoteIQ from $74.99 a month on Beginner is the clear winner on total cost and workflow integration in our analysis. For heavy insurance work where a carrier requires a specific report vendor, see entry 2.
Pricing
Beginner $74.99/mo (MapMeasure Pro included, $0 per measurement) · Pro $149.99/mo · Elite $299/mo · Max $699/mo · Essentials at $29.99/mo does not include MapMeasure Pro · every plan comes with a 14-day free trial of the plan you choose · see full pricing or browse the QuoteIQ comparison pages.
EagleView
Best for insurance-driven roofing where a specific aerial report is requiredEagleView is the name most roofers associate with aerial measurement reports. Instead of satellite imagery it works from aerial imagery. Its homepage says that imagery is far higher resolution than satellite imagery and describes a library of more than 3.5 billion high-resolution aerial images, which it turns into measurement reports and 3D property models. The roofing lineup on its site includes Bid Perfect, Premium Roof Reports, Full House Reports and Walls, Windows & Doors Reports. EagleView also states that 20 of the top 20 insurers rely on it, which is why insurance-focused contractors so often order it.
EagleView lists integrations with roofing and contractor software including JobNimbus, AccuLynx, ServiceTitan and JobTread, plus ABC Supply, so it is a natural companion to a roofing CRM. Its own pages are the place to check the current integration list and which report type fits which job. Because this page does not reprint competitor pricing, we also leave the report-by-report cost comparison to EagleView’s own pricing page.
How to decide: if your carriers or adjusters specify EagleView reports, the question is settled and you order the report they want. If you quote retail residential re-roofs and repairs where you are pricing your own work, compare what you would pay per report against a platform that includes measurement, using the formula from earlier in this guide with the figures from EagleView’s pricing page. EagleView is centered on measurement data, so estimating, scheduling and invoicing live in whichever CRM you connect it to. Our QuoteIQ comparison pages walk through how QuoteIQ differs from tools like this.
Pros
- Aerial-imagery reports that insurance-focused contractors already know
- A roofing report lineup that runs from bid-level reports to premium reports, per its site
- 3D property models for roofs and full exteriors, per its site
- Integrations with JobNimbus, AccuLynx, ServiceTitan and JobTread, per its site
Cons
- Report-based ordering means measurement cost scales with how many properties you quote
- Centered on measurement data, so you pair it with a CRM for estimates, scheduling and invoices
- Imagery-based reports can still be limited by tree cover and imagery age
Quick verdict
EagleView is the right pick for insurance restoration contractors where a carrier or adjuster expects its reports, and where the report cost can be part of the claim. For retail residential roofers who pay for measurement out of pocket, it is worth running the per-report math against a platform that includes measurement. Pair it with a roofing CRM for the full operational stack.
Pricing
See EagleView’s own pricing page for current report and subscription rates. This guide does not reprint competitor prices.
Roofr
Best for measurement reports plus proposals in one roofing suiteRoofr describes itself as all-in-one roofing software with a CRM, instant estimates, proposals, measurements, payments and material ordering. Its site calls the platform “built for roofers, by roofers,” and it promises accurate roof reports in as little as two hours and instant estimates that let you qualify and quote fast. Its proposals product is pitched as contracts that close deals faster, and its material ordering product lets you order materials and get supplier quotes in one place.
Where Roofr fits: roofers who want the measurement, the proposal and the CRM from a roofing specialist, and who like handling supplier quotes and material orders in the same suite. Its homepage lists CRM, instant estimates, proposals, measurements, payments and invoicing, and material ordering as separate products, and says its workflows run on desktop and mobile.
How it compares with QuoteIQ: Roofr delivers measurements as reports you order, with its homepage citing delivery in as little as two hours, while MapMeasure Pro measures inside the estimate the moment you enter an address, with AI auto-trace in about three seconds per the feature page. QuoteIQ is a broader home service CRM that also serves roofing, and Roofr is roofing-only. Choose based on whether you want a roofing specialist’s proposal tools or a wider operations platform that covers scheduling, invoicing, payments, photo documentation and AI tools. The QuoteIQ comparison hub links to side-by-side comparisons if you want to go deeper.
Pros
- Roofing-specialist suite that pairs measurements with a CRM, proposals and payments
- Instant estimates for qualifying and quoting leads quickly, per its site
- Material ordering and supplier quotes in the same product
- Desktop and mobile workflows, per its homepage
Cons
- Measurements arrive as ordered reports rather than as you type an address into an estimate
- Roofing-only focus means a mixed-trade business needs another platform for other trades
- Report and plan pricing must be confirmed on its own pricing page
Quick verdict
Roofr is a strong pick for a residential roofer who wants a roofing-specialist suite that bundles measurements with proposals and a CRM. If you would rather have measurement inside a platform that also runs scheduling, invoicing, payments and AI tools across your whole business, QuoteIQ is the closer fit.
Pricing
See Roofr’s own pricing page for current plan and report rates. This guide does not reprint competitor prices.
Hover
Best for 3D design visualization at the kitchen tableHover sits in a different category. Where MapMeasure Pro and aerial report tools measure from imagery, Hover turns smartphone photos of a property into an accurate 3D model, with “no special equipment or training required,” according to its site. From that model you can explore measurements, visualize real products on the house, estimate costs and produce material lists and proposals. Its homepage frames the platform as measure, design and estimate in one place.
For roofing, the 3D model is the closing tool. You can show a homeowner an architectural shingle, a metal profile or a new color on their own house before they sign, which matters most when you are selling a premium material tier. If your sales pitch already leans on visuals, Hover pairs naturally with it, and the same premium-upsell pattern shows up in trades we cover on our metal roofing software and siding software pages. Its site says the platform connects with tools like Salesforce, ServiceTitan and Xactimate.
The practical difference from satellite tools is where the measurement starts. Hover builds its models from photos of the property rather than from an address alone, so it fits jobs you have already decided to bid, and it works alongside address-based quoting rather than replacing it. Many roofers run a two-step process: a satellite estimate to qualify the lead, then a 3D model during the in-home presentation to close the premium tier. That is why we call the two approaches complementary. See the QuoteIQ comparison hub for more side-by-side comparisons.
Pros
- Photorealistic 3D models make premium materials easier to sell
- Measurement, design, estimating and proposals in one workflow, per its site
- Documentation tools for tracking project progress with photos
- Integrations with CRM and estimating tools such as Salesforce, ServiceTitan and Xactimate
Cons
- Models start from property photos, so timing differs from address-only satellite measurement
- A design and measurement product, so you still need a CRM for scheduling and invoicing
- Accuracy depends on photo quality and capture conditions
Quick verdict
Hover is the right pick for residential roofing contractors who lead with in-home presentations and want a visual closing tool, particularly for architectural shingles, impact-resistant systems and metal. It complements address-based satellite quoting better than it competes with it.
Pricing
See Hover’s own pricing page for current plan and per-project rates. This guide does not reprint competitor prices.
JobNimbus
Best roofing CRM to pair with a measurement providerJobNimbus is a roofing-focused CRM rather than a measurement tool, which matters in a list about satellite measuring software. Its homepage tagline is “Run your entire roofing business from lead to payment, without the chaos,” and it positions the platform as a CRM and project-management system for organizing leads, optimizing sales, managing projects and streamlining billing. It lists native iOS and Android apps plus web access, and integrations with QuickBooks, EagleView for measurements, CompanyCam and SumoQuote for proposals homeowners can sign on the spot.
JobNimbus also lists an AI assistant, Scout, marked as beta on its site, and says more than 8,000 contractors use the platform with a 4.8-star rating. Those are the vendor’s own figures, cited as such. Although roofing is its primary focus, its site says it also serves siding, gutters, fencing and other construction trades. For a contractor who already relies on EagleView for reports and wants a purpose-built CRM around them, JobNimbus is a common pairing.
How it compares with QuoteIQ: JobNimbus organizes the pipeline around a measurement provider you choose, so your monthly stack is the CRM plus the measurement source plus any add-ons. QuoteIQ puts measurement, estimates, scheduling, invoicing and payments in one subscription. If you are evaluating measurement and CRM together and you are not committed to a roofing-only platform, price the two stacks side by side using each vendor’s own pricing page. The QuoteIQ comparison hub is a good place to start when you line the two up.
Pros
- Roofing-focused CRM and project management for the sales-to-billing pipeline
- Lists EagleView measurements, QuickBooks, CompanyCam and SumoQuote among its integrations
- Native iOS and Android apps plus web access, per its homepage
- Vendor-stated scale: 8,000+ contractors and a 4.8-star rating
Cons
- Built around connecting to a measurement provider, so measurement is a separate cost and login
- Its AI assistant is marked beta on its site
- Plan pricing and add-ons must be confirmed on its own pricing page
Quick verdict
JobNimbus is the honest pick for residential roofers who are already committed to a measurement provider and want a purpose-built roofing CRM around those reports. If you are evaluating measurement and CRM together, compare the full stack against QuoteIQ before you decide.

AccuLynx
Best roofing-only management suite for established roofing companiesAccuLynx describes itself as “the #1 roofing software & CRM, trusted by thousands of contractors for total business management,” which is the vendor’s own claim. Its homepage organizes the product into four areas: sales and CRM, production, finance and operations. Sales covers AI-powered lead intelligence, streamlined estimating and custom proposals. Production covers scheduling, crew collaboration and supplier ordering. Finance covers job tracking, invoicing and integrated payment processing, and operations covers workflow automation, reporting and multi-location management.
The site also lists document automation, text messaging, customer portals, payment processing and crew management, and supplier integrations with ABC Supply, QXO and SRS Distribution. AccuLynx emphasizes that it is built exclusively for roofing contractors rather than as a general construction tool. Like JobNimbus, it is listed among the roofing platforms that connect to EagleView on EagleView’s own integrations list, so measurement typically comes from a provider you connect.
How it compares with QuoteIQ: AccuLynx goes deep on roofing-specific production and supplier workflows, and QuoteIQ goes broad across estimating, scheduling, invoicing, payments, photo documentation and AI tools for many trades. Established roofing companies that want a roofing-only system of record will want to evaluate it. Roofers who want satellite measurement plus a general CRM in one subscription will want to price QuoteIQ next to it. Browse the QuoteIQ comparison hub for more.
Pros
- Built exclusively for roofing, with sales, production, finance and operations covered
- Supplier ordering integrations with ABC Supply, QXO and SRS Distribution, per its site
- Customer portals, text messaging, document automation and crew management listed
- Connects to EagleView, which lists AccuLynx among its integrations
Cons
- Measurement typically comes from a provider you connect, which is an added cost and login
- A roofing-only system may be more platform than a small retail crew needs
- Plan pricing must be confirmed with AccuLynx directly
Quick verdict
AccuLynx is a fit for established roofing companies that want a roofing-only management suite and are willing to connect a measurement provider. For retail residential roofers who want satellite measurement and a CRM in one flat-rate subscription, compare QuoteIQ Pro at $149.99 a month, which adds job costing and QuickBooks Online on top of the Beginner feature set.

Which Tool Is Right for Your Roofing Business?
The right pick depends on how you sell. Here are five common roofing scenarios and what we would choose in each.
Solo roofer, 10 to 25 quotes a month, retail residential
You run a one- or two-person operation quoting re-roofs and repairs, and speed matters: you want to measure before the site visit and quote while the homeowner is still on the phone. You are tired of paying for disconnected tools.
Recommended: QuoteIQ Beginner ($74.99/mo), with MapMeasure Pro, estimates, invoicing, QuoteIQ Cam and the AI Estimator in one subscription for up to 2 users.Storm restoration contractor, insurance-claim heavy
Your business runs on storm damage. You send measurement reports to adjusters on every claim, manage supplement paperwork and coordinate several crews during hail season. Your carriers name the report vendor they want.
Recommended: the report vendor your carriers specify (for many that is EagleView) plus a roofing-only CRM such as JobNimbus or AccuLynx. Add QuoteIQ if you also quote retail work.Residential roofer focused on premium materials
You specialize in architectural shingles, impact-resistant systems or metal, and your sales process includes an in-home presentation. Closing a premium tier means showing homeowners what the finished roof will look like.
Recommended: QuoteIQ for the satellite pre-quote and Before & After AI renderings, paired with Hover for 3D visualization at the in-home close.Growing retail roofing company with several crews
You have 5 to 10 people, multiple crews and a schedule that changes daily. You need measurement, but you also need people tracking, routing and a pipeline that shows where every lead stands.
Recommended: QuoteIQ Elite ($299/mo, 10 users) with Route Optimization, EmployeeHub GPS tracking and Pipelines & Deals; look at Max ($699/mo) for unlimited users and crew scheduling.Already committed to a roofing-only CRM
You use a roofing-only CRM you like and you only need a measurement source. In that case the deciding question is which measurement provider connects to your CRM, so start with your CRM’s own integration list and price the measurement source on its own pricing page. MapMeasure Pro makes the most sense when QuoteIQ is also where you write estimates, because the measurement flows straight into the quote instead of into another system.
Recommended: choose the measurement provider your CRM lists as an integration. Consider moving your estimating into QuoteIQ if you want measurement and the quote in the same place.Start Quoting Roofs in Seconds
QuoteIQ’s MapMeasure Pro gives roofing contractors satellite measurement with AI auto-trace and AI Pitch Detection, bundled inside a complete field service CRM from $74.99 a month, with no per-measurement fee and no separate measurement subscription. Try it with a 14-day free trial of the plan you choose.
How MapMeasure Pro Measures a Roof
Here is what actually happens between typing an address and having a number you can quote from, based on QuoteIQ’s own feature pages.
The map opens inside the estimate
Open a new estimate, enter the property address and MapMeasure Pro loads the satellite view. Property Street View and Zillow Quick Access give you ground-level and listing context without leaving QuoteIQ, and measurements are saved to the customer profile and exported to the quote.
AI Measurement or drawing tools
AI Measurement traces the roof automatically, and the feature page puts that at about three seconds. For complex shapes with dormers, additions or skylights you can drop pins and use the drawing tools to map area or linear measurements yourself.
AI Pitch Detection
A map shows a roof’s footprint, and a pitched roof has more surface than its footprint. AI Pitch Detection reads the slope from satellite imagery and applies the multiplier so the area you quote reflects the true surface, and roof segments can show color-coded pitch from solar data.
The material-list dataset
Roof-plane tracing measures each face of the roof individually, and ridge, valley and eave lengths are measured directly on screen, which are the numbers behind shingle, underlayment, flashing and edge-metal quantities.
Proof of scope
Screenshot the measured outline and attach it to the estimate so the homeowner sees exactly what you measured. The aerial-imagery timeline lets you scroll back through years of photos, which helps when a roof has been added to or reshaped.
Know the limits
It is satellite imagery. Tree cover, imagery age and brand-new construction can limit any imagery-based tool, and an insurer-specified report is a different product. Confirm the details on site before you order materials, and photograph what you find with QuoteIQ Cam.
Roof Measurement Terms Every Estimator Should Know
Whatever tool you use, the output is the same handful of numbers. Getting the vocabulary right makes every comparison on this page easier, and it helps when you brief a crew or a supplier.
Roofing square
The unit most material is priced and ordered in: one square is 100 square feet of roof surface.
Pitch
The steepness of a roof, expressed as rise per 12 inches of horizontal run. A 6/12 roof rises 6 inches for every 12 inches of run.
Footprint versus true surface area
The area seen from above is smaller than the actual surface of a pitched roof. The pitch multiplier converts one into the other.
Ridge and hip
The ridge is the horizontal line where two roof planes meet at the top. A hip is the sloped external line where two planes meet at a corner.
Valley
The internal line where two roof planes meet and channel water, and a place where flashing and underlayment quantities matter.
Eave and rake
The eave is the lower edge that overhangs the wall, and the rake is the sloped edge at the gable end. Both drive drip-edge quantities.
Waste factor
The extra material you order to cover cuts, overlaps and mistakes. It generally grows as roof complexity, with more planes, hips and valleys, increases.
Penetrations
Vents, chimneys, skylights and pipes that interrupt the roof plane and need flashing. Photograph them on site because imagery can miss them.
Facet
A single flat plane of the roof. Tools that report pitch by facet let you catch a low-slope addition on an otherwise steep roof.
Ten Questions to Ask Any Roof Measurement Vendor
Use these with every tool on this page, including ours. The answers, not the marketing, tell you what you will actually pay and do.
- How does it measure? From an address with imagery, from a report you order, or from photos of the property? That decides how fast you can quote.
- What does one measurement cost at your volume? Multiply your monthly quotes by the fee on the vendor’s own pricing page, then add any subscription.
- Does the number land inside your estimate? Re-keying measurements is where errors and delays sneak in. MapMeasure Pro sends them straight to the estimate.
- Does an adjuster or carrier require a specific report vendor? If yes, that requirement outranks every other criterion.
- Which details come back? Area, pitch by plane, ridges, valleys, eaves, rakes and penetrations are not all delivered by every tool.
- How current is the imagery, and can you see older imagery? The aerial timeline in MapMeasure Pro helps when a roof has changed.
- What is the fallback for tree cover or new construction? Every imagery tool has one. Ask what it is before you need it.
- Does it work on your phone in the driveway? QuoteIQ runs on iOS, Android and the web with full parity.
- What else do you have to buy around it? Count the CRM, invoicing, photo documentation, texting and scheduling you would otherwise add.
- How hard is it to leave? QuoteIQ lets you export your data on every plan, and it is worth asking every vendor the same.
What to Confirm on the Roof Before You Order Materials
Satellite measurement gets you an accurate quote fast. Before you commit to a material order, spend ten minutes on site confirming what imagery cannot show:
- Number of existing layers and the condition of the decking
- Flashing, drip edge and ventilation details, and any penetrations that were added after the imagery was captured
- Access, staging space and anything that changes labor, such as steep slopes or limited access to the eaves
- Recent additions or roofline changes, which the historical imagery timeline can flag ahead of the visit
Document what you find with QuoteIQ Cam and inspection forms, attach the photos to the estimate, and you have a clean record of pre-existing conditions if a question comes up later. Trade groups such as the National Roofing Contractors Association publish technical guidance, safety training materials and toolbox talks that are worth having on file for your crews.
From First Call to Paid Invoice: The Roofing Workflow in QuoteIQ
Measurement is only the start of a roofing job. Here is how the rest of the workflow runs when everything lives in one platform, so you can judge a measurement tool by what it connects to and not only by what it measures.
Answer the storm call
The Virtual Call Team answers inbound calls around the clock, qualifies leads, filters spam, records and transcribes each call and sends you a summary. ClientHub keeps calls and texts on the customer record from Pro up.
Measure the roof
Enter the address and use MapMeasure Pro to auto-trace, read pitch and pull ridge, valley and eave lengths without a site visit.
Build the quote
Present tiers in an Options Estimate, bundle repair-versus-replace in a Package Estimate, or use a Quick Estimate for small jobs. The AI Estimator can price from property photos.
Document and sell
QuoteIQ Cam captures damage, flashing and progress photos, and before-and-after visuals help homeowners picture the result.
Get the signature
Customers approve on their phone with an e-signature. You can also attach contracts to the documents you send.
Schedule the work
Scheduling gives you drag-and-drop calendar views. Assigning people to jobs starts at Pro, and crew assignment is on Max. Elite adds Route Optimization to cut drive time by 15 to 30 percent.
Invoice and get paid
Send an invoice from the job, take online payments by card, ACH, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and offer consumer financing on larger roofs. Free contractor and construction invoice templates are available if you are still on paper.
Ask for the review
Review Multiplier sends customers to your review page right after they pay online, and a review-request automation can follow up by email or text. See the analytics dashboard for close rates and average ticket.
Cost tracking closes the loop: job costing (Pro and up) shows price minus labor minus expenses per job, and expense tracking and the business calculators help you price the next one. For a broader look at how QuoteIQ handles trades beyond roofing, see general contractor software, remodeling software, gutter installation software and solar installation software, or browse all industries.

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers to the questions roofing contractors search for most when comparing satellite measuring tools.
What is the best satellite measuring software for roofing contractors in 2026?
QuoteIQ is the best satellite measuring software for roofing contractors in 2026 for retail residential work because MapMeasure Pro measures roofs from satellite imagery inside the estimate with AI auto-trace and AI Pitch Detection, and it carries no per-measurement charge on Beginner at $74.99 per month and above. The measurement flows into an Options Estimate, where you can show good, better and best shingle tiers, and the same platform handles photo documentation, e-signatures and invoicing. If a carrier or adjuster requires a specific aerial report, EagleView is the tool built around that use case, and roofing-only CRMs such as JobNimbus and AccuLynx suit companies that want a roofing-specific system of record. Before you decide, calculate your own measurement spend by multiplying your monthly quotes by each vendor’s per-report fee, and remember that satellite measurement reduces rooftop climbs, which matters because BLS says roofers have one of the highest rates of injuries and fatalities of any occupation.
How does QuoteIQ MapMeasure Pro measure roof pitch and surface area?
MapMeasure Pro loads satellite imagery when you type a property address into the QuoteIQ estimate builder. AI Measurement auto-traces the roof, which the feature page puts at about 3 seconds, and you can adjust the outline or use the drawing tools for complex shapes with dormers and skylights. AI Pitch Detection reads the slope of the roof from the imagery and applies the multiplier that turns flat map area into true surface area, and roof-plane tracing measures each face separately, with ridge, valley and eave lengths shown on screen. Those numbers flow directly into the estimate with no export or re-keying, and you can screenshot the measured outline and attach it to the document. The related Roof & Pitch Measurement and AI AutoMeasure tools use IQ Credits from your plan, while MapMeasure Pro itself is a flat-rate feature of Beginner ($74.99 a month) and above. See the MapMeasure Pro page, add Street View and Zillow context, and confirm details on site with QuoteIQ Cam. For safety context on why fewer roof climbs matter, read OSHA’s fall protection guidance.
How much does roof measuring software cost in 2026?
It depends on the pricing model, and the models differ. Some tools charge per measurement report, some charge a subscription, and some, like QuoteIQ’s MapMeasure Pro, include measurement in the plan price. Because competitor rates change, check each vendor’s own pricing page and use this formula: quotes per month times the fee per report, plus any subscription. On QuoteIQ, MapMeasure Pro is included on Beginner at $74.99 per month, Pro at $149.99, Elite at $299 and Max at $699, and it is not included on Essentials at $29.99. Annual billing works out to two months free, for example $749.99 a year on Beginner. Even if you spread the full Beginner price over 20 quotes a month, that is $3.75 a quote, and you also get estimates, invoicing and scheduling. Compare that with a site visit: the IRS business mileage rate is 76 cents a mile from July 1, 2026, so a 30-mile round trip is $22.80 before crew time. See full pricing for every plan.
What is the best Roofr alternative for roofing contractors?
For contractors who want measurement built into the estimate, QuoteIQ is the closest Roofr alternative, though the best fit depends on what you liked about Roofr. Roofr describes itself as roofing software with a CRM, instant estimates, proposals, measurements, payments and material ordering, and it delivers measurements as reports you order. If you want measurement built into the estimate itself and a broader platform that also covers other trades, MapMeasure Pro auto-traces the roof in about 3 seconds on Beginner ($74.99 a month) and above with no per-measurement fee, and the platform adds scheduling, invoicing, online payments and the AI Estimator. If you want a roofing-only suite, JobNimbus and AccuLynx are the roofing-specific CRMs on this list. Roofr’s plan and report pricing is on its own site, so compare it with QuoteIQ using the formula in this guide. Our QuoteIQ comparison hub covers the feature differences, and the roofing software page shows how QuoteIQ is set up for the trade. The NRCA also maintains contractor resources if you are building out your business systems.
Can you measure a roof remotely without visiting the property?
Yes. Imagery-based tools measure roofs from an address, so you can quote before anyone visits. QuoteIQ’s MapMeasure Pro measures from satellite imagery inside the estimate, and report-based tools such as EagleView and Roofr deliver measurements you order for a property. Hover works differently: it builds a 3D model from smartphone photos of the property, so it starts from photos rather than an address alone. Remote measurement is most valuable for storm leads, after-hours inquiries and pre-qualifying a lead before you book a visit, and it lets you answer while the homeowner is still on the phone, especially when a Virtual Call Team has already captured the details. It does not replace a final on-site check: tree cover, imagery age and new construction can limit any imagery-based measurement, so confirm layers, decking, flashing and penetrations before you order materials and photograph them with QuoteIQ Cam. Check NOAA’s Storm Events Database, which goes back to January 1950, to see what actually hit a neighborhood, then send the quote as an Options Estimate and collect an e-signature from the homeowner’s phone.
What is the difference between EagleView and QuoteIQ MapMeasure Pro?
EagleView produces measurement reports and 3D models from aerial imagery, and its site says 20 of the top 20 insurers rely on it, which is why insurance-driven contractors order it. QuoteIQ’s MapMeasure Pro measures from satellite imagery inside the estimate, with AI auto-trace, AI Pitch Detection and no per-measurement fee on Beginner and above. The practical differences are the workflow and the cost model. With EagleView you order a report per property and connect it to a CRM; with MapMeasure Pro the measurement is part of the estimate and the same subscription covers scheduling, invoicing and photo documentation. EagleView is the better choice when a carrier or adjuster specifies its reports, and MapMeasure Pro is the better fit for retail residential roofers who quote at volume and pay for measurement themselves. To compare costs, take EagleView’s current rates from its own pricing page and multiply by your quotes per month. Browse the QuoteIQ comparison hub, and see IBHS hail research if impact-resistant upgrades are part of your pitch.
Does QuoteIQ offer a free trial for roofing contractors?
Yes. QuoteIQ offers a 14-day free trial with full access to the features of the plan you choose, one trial per person, business and payment method, a credit or debit card is required to start. Choose Beginner or above to try MapMeasure Pro during the trial, and use it to measure real roofs, build an Options Estimate, send it for e-signature, and test QuoteIQ Cam, the AI Estimator and invoicing on live jobs. Time a few measurements against your usual process while you are in the trial: if a pre-quote visit costs you a 30-mile round trip, that is $22.80 each time at the IRS business mileage rate of 76 cents a mile. The trial converts to a paid subscription at the selected plan’s rate unless you cancel before it ends, and you can cancel at any time during the trial. The pricing page lays out every tier, from Essentials at $29.99 a month to Max at $699 a month, and you can start on the Beginner plan and move up as your team grows.
Is satellite roof measurement accurate enough to bid a roofing job?
Satellite measurement is accurate enough for a confident pre-visit quote on most residential roofs, and it is not a substitute for a final on-site check before you order materials. Accuracy depends on imagery quality and age, tree cover, roof complexity and how carefully the outline is traced. Pitch matters most: a 6/12 roof has about 12% more surface than its footprint, so QuoteIQ’s MapMeasure Pro reads pitch with AI Pitch Detection and applies the multiplier that converts map area to true surface area, and it measures each roof plane individually so a low-slope addition is not averaged into a steep main roof. Use the aerial-imagery timeline to check for recent additions, add a waste allowance that fits the roof’s complexity, and confirm layers, decking, flashing and penetrations on site, documenting them with QuoteIQ Cam and inspection forms. If an insurer specifies a report vendor, order that report instead of relying on any satellite tool. Build the quote as an Options Estimate, keep job costing honest by comparing estimated and actual materials, and see IBHS hail research for material choices.
Key Takeaways
- MapMeasure Pro is included on Beginner ($74.99/mo) and above. Essentials at $29.99 a month does not include it. See all plans.
- MapMeasure Pro has no per-measurement charge. The AI-assisted Roof & Pitch Measurement and AI AutoMeasure tools use the IQ Credits that come with your plan.
- If a carrier specifies a report vendor, order that vendor’s report first. EagleView is built around that use case.
- Do your own per-report math: quotes per month times the fee per report, using each vendor’s own pricing page, then compare it with a bundled Beginner plan.
- 3D visualization complements address-based quoting. Hover works best as the in-home closing tool after a satellite pre-quote.
- Roofing CRMs organize the pipeline; QuoteIQ bundles it. JobNimbus and AccuLynx connect to a measurement provider, while QuoteIQ puts measurement, invoicing and scheduling in one subscription.
- Every QuoteIQ plan starts with a 14-day free trial of the plan you choose, so you can measure real roofs before you commit.
- Satellite measurement removes the roof climb from initial quotes, not the final on-site check. Confirm details and photograph them with QuoteIQ Cam.
